TOPIC: The Terminator is back.

The Terminator is back. 1 year, 6 months ago #24630

Perrin aka The Terminator crushed the opposition with 2 wins from 2 starts during the weather ravaged Blue Balls meet at Kawhia and Raglan.
He was absolutely dominant in the rain on the short course and he gave a display of immaculate technique to pass and then lap last years Champion Craig in the trophy race.
The weather was awful and the hill between the car park and the beach was so hard to drag a buggy up but it was a fantastic meet with some 70+kph moments and some great camaraderie. 5 guys hiding from the rain in a 50 cent pup tent must have seemed a silly thing to do for the odd beach goer looking on.

It wasn't the kite that won it was the rider. Check the race report I just posted. Perrin made a strategic kite change just before the race in the rain and started with a dry kite. In the trophy race Craig made more mistakes than Perrin.
Craig was pulling away from Perrin in the trophy race and in the rain he was faster on several legs but Perrin got a much better start and had a steady pace.
Those vapours are hot but only as hot as the guy flying them and the buggy underneath them and the tyres that are sitting on the the sand.
The guy with the best pace on the first day was Thomas flinging some baby pepper around the sky. He had some great runs but by race time his kite was too wet to be fast.

i would like to test that theory, i have a couple of 2 line kites for craig and perrin to run next time out i can see your point, most kites we run have a good shot at a race win if in the right hands and there i a lot to winning a race. perrin basically did the oposite of what i would have , removed his visor, ran a smaller kite, used very old bearings that wont even free spin 2 revolutions in his wheels, im so pleased he didnt kick my ass too. But having said that i think id rather have been there to have that happen, still stuck in the car for work
