The 16th annual Blue Balls will be held at Ocean beach Kawhia on Sat August 7 and Sun August 8 2010.

The blue balls is a winter gathering of buggies and the odd board. It is sometimes very small and other years has lots of buggies. The number of participants is not important. The event moves around on the west coast. This will be the 3rd trip to Kawhia but the first since 1999. It was also the venue for several jam days and was a stop over on one of the road trips of the nineties. It is a slice of old New Zealand with a wonderful beach. Like Raglan dune riding is not permitted.

There are 3 camping grounds and all sorts of other accommodation.
We have always stayed at the Forrest view camp in the past. Cabins in Kawhia are the usual price and if a bunch of people share then it is very reasonable.

Forest View Motor Camp, Kawhia...07 871 0858
Kawhia Beachside S-Cape...07 871 0727
Kawhia Camping Ground...07 871 0863
B & B Rogers, Oparau...07 871 0683
Kawhia Backpackers...07 8710795

Wind permitting we will have the second running of the Stiff nipple classic 50km The first event was in 1995 and was won by Perrin from Kite Works. This will be the feature event and will earn the winner the Blue balls trophy and Western circuit points.
Charlie is the marshal. The Flag drops Saturday 7/8/10 at 1pm. Fliers meet at 12.30. If there is no wind it will be postponed until the Sunday.
