The estury cross board project commences 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago

well the project has started.
take one free snapped in half surf board cut its square and start to grind wheel wells.
I'll then glass some wheel arches and any bits where the foam is still exposed, add some tie down straps (old mtb inner tubes).
and i'll be off like a robbers dog.
I'm going to cut the nose flush with the front wheels. it will end up being directional but i'll mount the fins like a twin tip for emergency backwards.
Remember all it needs to do is get up and plane on a down winder angle. there doesn't need to be any more performance than that.
the reason being that if the wheels are exposed then it will have a whole heap more power to get up and plaining. so i'll need way more wind. if i make it with wheel arches with the wheels enclosed i'll have a far bigger wind range.
Oh No, What have you done,
I can't stop thing about the new carbon buggy with a shell like frame and pods over the back wheels to make it into a tri, with two steering drop rudders and roll down flap to cover the front wheel hole when on water
I don't think i'll need to slow down for the river crossings
well not much below 80kms anyway
ah yeah. you see. new challenges require new equipment. and your eyes can open to what else is possible and what other missions can be planned.
Have i talked about the ultimate downwinder to you? punch muriwai. surf the kaipara habour and fang baileys all in one day/Tide.
What do you recon?
ps aim for spring after the moose for the hima-wai official challenge.
pss snapped surfboard is cut and shapped and waiting glassing and wheel arches. maybe a week away from a trial. weather, enthusiasm and time dependant.

you scuzzie landboarder don't have the balls
why stop at Baileys, are your arms tired or do you just need a cup of Tea
when you can go all the way to the top of 90 mile and bomb the dune
this new buggy is going to have so much room in it ,I can fit in the chilly bin, tent,BBQ,kite fishing gear and maybe even a stowaway or two.
now all I need is the misses to go to Germany for a holiday
and I'll have some time to build this beast

Last I checked boarders still crunch down when it gets a bit too much for them...

Oooooooooh sounds like Moosetruck is getting a rival!
Been tried and very sensitive for kiting unless you start adopting the constant power of a kitesurfing rig. Hydrofoils don't have the widest working range and the threshold between providing lift and cavitating is quite narrow. Furthermore the do have a lot of drag to overcome so even when lifting not entirely efficient.
Totally and should be smooth on the plane solving the choppy inner harbour issues. Though you'll be knackered trying to keep your boats' speed constant and in control whereas you could definitely cruise all day long on a PL kiteboat.
