Hi all. I have booked my first trip up to Raro and Aitutaki for mid May for two weeks and hoping to get some good kiting in. After booking, I saw someone comment somewhere that the trade winds 'might not arrive until later in the year'...? I don't know alot about the habits of the trade winds, can anyone give me some advice here? Am I likely to be able to kite up there in the Cooks mid to late May? Cheers.

May is supposedly not so 'reliable', here's the 2008 wind data from the airport sensors

So you can see a bit of swinging around to N & other directions instead of the more expectable SE.

Last year we had a bit of everything, SW, S (cold!), and then SE......

The sand bars in the lagoon allow for sailing in any direction.
