Thought I would share mine and Sam's Snow Kiting Itinerary with you all to tempt you down to the South Island this year. My good mate Sam is flying from Brisbane and arriving in CHCH on Friday 21st of August 2pm. Our mission, to have an absolute blast across all mountains and take our Snow Kiting to the next level!

Friday 21st August

We are picking up the luxury van from the friendly people at BackPacker rentals. Then heading down to Queenstown to catch up with my good friend, Uncle Jon of Board Patrol. Couple of random Campervan placements in Queenstown to start the trip, with day trips up to the best Snow Kiting locations out of Queenstown.

Saturday 22nd - Sunday 23rd

Chasta will be around, so general following this Snow Kiting Legend around, learning what ever we can from him and Jon will be the diet of the weekend.

Monday, head up to Wanaka and start the week off with some insane locations with our organizer, Tim from KiteSports.co.nz. Wanakite 2009 is a great event from all accounts and I am excited to attending this year.

Monday 24th - Friday 28th

That's gonna be awesome be an awesome week with a trip back to Queenstown to join in the festivities on Friday and drown our weary bones in lots of whiskey and beer!

Saturday 29th

Say our goodbyes and head back CHCH for Sam''s last night in NZ for the year. Sunday's mission, home to our nice hot showers and clean sheets. Totally ready to leave our jobs and travel the world with our kites.

sunday 30th.

the Auckland boys reveling in all the new found freedom now that the rest of you have left, will shred every piece of fresh pow that fell all Saturday night. we will of course take heaps of pics of us drinking Jager with Chasta and the Swedish girls Nordic ski team and post them on kite forum.

Monday reapeat
tuesday come home and resent auckland till next year.

Looks like we now have a recommended deviation to the orginal plan. Sam and I will be stopping in Round Hill on the Saturday morning for some Pre-Wanakite action. Anyone travelling through on that Saturday is welcome to join us. Hoping for some S-SW-E-NE to coming stomping through.

Good luck with getting the wind at Round Hill. Its a great spot and I went there last year but didn't get wind. Unfortunately I haven't spoken to anyone that has actually got decent reliable wind in there (could be wrong). The wind tends to whistle over the top. I did notice more wind on the ridge at the top of the lift if you want to walk up.
It would be great if you could post your own experiences on session logs so we can all share and learn about each spot.
