it becomes sweet when you find out the dude is ok...... if hes fine it was awesome if he wasnt then its a bad accident and the way it turned out could have been alot worse.

I really didnt like the people bagging him for holding on and not letting go.... Shit until you have been in a situation like that you cannot comment.
I had a pretty big incident similar to this but with alot more hurt involved and i couldnt release my kite while in the situation i was in. And who the hell wants to release while they are 100ft in the air anyway????
So them saying its unsafe and telling him hes an idiot are wan%$rs in my opinion.

He did get luckey and im sure he has been shaken by his incident.

And did i read something about them saying he was a well acomplished kitesurfer using similar gear on the snow? Looked like snow gear to me....

Amazing Yes!
Very scary for the rider Yes!
Super lucky Yes!

Lots of paragliding knowledge helps in these situations. I aspire to be able to hover or attain small low altitude glides but there is no reserve parachute. Dont want to be a Kill joy. Just lets be all safe out there.

Could have been much worse for sure!!

Dan the snow is still here , Whakapapa opens on 20 December for summer skiing and snowkiting.

Come and practice your gliding mate, I'm keen as. Anyone else who wants to demo the 2009 Ozone foil range this summer on the snow, pm me.
