I wanna start getting some serious speed runs with my board. At the moment I have some fairly weak inserts (the piece of rubber that goes between the trucks ad the board - right terminology?? :? )

My board keeps wobbling all over the place, I want some real hardcore ones. So where to get 'em and what size? Spig, can you help out man?

Cheers, Will

Not sure what board you have and whether it has Skate Trucks or Channel Trucks.

If you are riding a Channnel Truck board with springs, (better for speed wobble anyway), the inserts inside the springs are commonly known as 'Eggs' and come in a variety of hardnesses. MBS make Red, (Super hard), Orange (Hard), and Yellow, (medium) eggs, and I sell them for $25 a set of 4. I currently run with the Orange Eggs to reduce 'speed wobble', but if you want 'super hardcore' you might want to go for some Reds.

If you are riding a Skate Truck board, I have no idea where you would get a stiffer elastomer, you'll have to talk to your board manufacturer... Skate Truck boards tend to suffer more from speed wobble and I would doubt there is much you can do except relax your stance to get rid of it...

Hope this helps

i think you can get harder "do-do's" for skate trucks, you can also tighten the truck harder but you may fined you have todo this everyday and may wear the trucks out faster.

you can also put bigger springs (5mm) on channel trucks and if there not mbs matrix trucks put washers above the spring to tighten them.

with speed wobbles, bend your knees and get your center of gravity lower this helps to, plus as spig said relax

what you ridein??

or just get one of these and go even faster

On the subject of the Surfari, I have one for demo at the Waikuku Kite Camp next weekend, (Cheers Josh)

All I can say right now is that it is a wonderful piece of NZ engineering, beautifully made and a fun ride once mastered.... I am looking forward to getting it up and running with a kite....

I was reading power kite magazine and it had a board with the trucks attached to the top of the board.so the board is underneath the trucks therefore creating a lower centre of gravity making it more stable but very low ground clearence.

I own an APT dirt hoppa board.

Uses skate trucks and is waay too flexible.

I'm thinking that I should be able to buy some inserts for the trucks at a skate shop? Maybe just cranking up the tension on the trucks would help too.

I'll contact the manufacturers.

Cheers guys.

and crank up the trucks.

Hmm.... sounds like I gotta upgrade my trucks then...

Would any deck be able to fit any set of trucks? How about the wheel sizes?

Anyone got an old set of trucks that take the inserts that spig has?

I wouldn't be looking to spend too much, just need something to get riding with until I can make my custom-built kite buggy.

ok. sk8 style mountainboards normaly have the "kicker" at 15 degree and channel trucks are 35 degree.

channel truck need the extra angle so the board will turn, if bolted to a flat board the axle would just go up and down and not front to back to turn the board. hope this make sence!?!

you could put channel trucks on your board but you will need to re-dill the holes and due to the smaller "kicker angle" the board would not turn as much, no good for freerideing but for kiteing could work ok. but i've never seen it done before so i dont how well it would work.

you could make wedge/or packer to change the angle but this would effect the centre of gravty a wee bit. but would work ok.

wheels are normaly 8 inch (witch should fit stright on) but can be upto 12inch!
just watch channel and sk8 trucks use differant wheel bearing so you cant swap the wheels.

Try here if you want parts someone many have something

if you tighten up your trucks you will move the speed wobble zone to a higher speed , possibly higher than you can ride , possibly up to your upper speed limit which is not great  . Take a spanner with you and tighten the trucks evenly and in small amounts , perhaps 1/2 a turn at once combined with very hard rubber bits (elastomers)
