Hey Conrad.

Personally I would not recommend using a climbing harness with a kite, although I know there are people out there that do As I have never used one for kiting, (or climbing!), I do not know what the possible advantages or disadvantages of a climbing harness are, or the safety aspects. But I suspect that you would run your strop/chicken loop through a carabin (sic?) to attach yourself to the kite which may be difficult to release in an emergency situation.

GOLDEN RULE NUMBER ONE: Never permanently attach yourself directly to a kite., this is an accident waiting to happen. Always use a safety release.

I started off with a climbing harnes and it feels just like a seat harness except when gusts hit it does hurt you balls a bit. I used a carabina but just tapped the clip open so then i could hook in and out whenever i wanted to and things were all good.

wouldnt recomend it though cause it is still quite dangerous.

A padded climbing harness is very comfourtable and you can have your attachment point quite low - which is great for buggying. Off course you would have a quick release between that and your handles/bar - which is as safe as standard quick releases with the 'donkey dick' in.

I use climbing harness when flying on handles, as I can attach two handles to each other with line running through pulley - this makes for comfourtable one handed flying and spinning lines out after rotations. But make sure you have your safety set up well and that you are confident with setup and conditions you are using it in!

50psi - if you are looking for something that is comfourtable and light weight try the Dakine Nitrous shorts! I've been using the women's version 'Starlet' shorts with only undies under it for land based kiting over the weekend and absolutely loved it! No chafing or pressure in the wrong areas! Good when you are doing all the kitesports on one day as we were!

Cheers

Su

Could a windsurfing seat harness be used for landboarding if it comes with a spreader bar?

yeap! thats what i use now, it's great until u get lift then it diggs in round the leg a bit, as the angle of pull is different to a windsurfer.

Sweet 50psi
I've got a second hand one lined up, cheap as chips. The bugger will do for the mean time.
