We hunt down the best days where there is a good onshore breeze blowing... and usually the stronger it is, the better.

But... I find it hard to get my head around the winds they are forecasting with Cyclone Yasi.
250kph with potential 300kph gusts......

Quickest I have been in a car was in an open top 'worked' TR6 at 220kph and the buffeting from that seemed extreme, but people regularly attain 300kph on R1's etc.

I can't imagine what a sustained wind at over 250kph must be like. It's going to be rough in northern Queensland that's for sure.

I suppose there will be kiters in Australia who will find perfect conditions around the periphery of the storm somewhere, so there is a silver lining to even this sort of event.

its hard to fathom isn't it. the highest i've kited in is 50knots gusts on sat and that was silly.
