yes nutbust was mucho fun! still tired 3 days later! hehehe

now i need a 40-50 knot kite!! maybe your 2.5m blur would fit the bill.... maybe i need a 1.5 something....

i enjoyed flying charlies stack of flexi's..... maybe i stack myself up... aaahhhh!

I also need to upgrade my harness and my 10m manta and my 8m light. need a surf board style and a newer twin tip.

not sure how i'm going to get capex approval for all that!

all my kites are under the capex limit and your harness too. i liked the SB harness and petes modded SB harness even better lots of extra strap for putting over ski suits etc too.

id say the blurr 2.5 would be a good high wind kite, Al had his out in 40+ knots at murs.

not as lifty and has better gust munching than the Hornet 2m. AOA adjustment on the blurr but i found it only worked well on knot 2 of 4 no matter what wind it was in, but Al has some good ideas about that.

There is a difference between a high wind kite and a storm kite.

Lots of kites will fly just fine in a big wind but a big lumpy wind is a very different beast.

The wind at the Nut Buster was harsh and lumpy. I had my 2.5 peel out for a while. It was OK but in the big lumps it was not fun and it lofted Cudby and threw him onto his head. The bigger lumps destroyed lines and bridles and the only way Perrin and Al could keep the 2m quads in the air was to use really short lines. This enabled them to ride but they didn't get alot of apparent going on.

The flexis on the other hand bend and self reef in the gusts. Paul and I could easily swing our kites around the sky. I did break the knots off my stacking lines but I was finishing a 180 with a fierce backwards power slide. It kind of loaded up a bit much then but when we were going forward it was just fine.

Hey Jimmy,
The Yakuza sounds like a good step up for us. Child number 2 now needs some speed if he wants to retain his lead in the race for Western Circuit points
Ahhhhhh illusions of grandeur always come at a price.....next it'll be a race buggy no doubt!

thought long and hard about putting the blurr 2.5 , its got more camber than the n-gens and comes from planet stable BUT its heavy on the brakes and hard to kill, where as an n-gen will just die a second before you think about killing ,it provided it hasnt already just killed you first.
the other more reasonable theory i had is that the blurr still scares me, i dont know it like the n-gens, its not in the circle of trust yet and in 40+ knots thats definently the wrong kite..

the blurr also generates apparent through airspeed in massive lumps of power...huge.....this is because it is a very very fast kite, this and heavy brakes makes it a handfull and i will be putting mine onto a turbobar nextime it goes out on a very windy day just so i can tame it...this will really bring out the best of this kite and allow more usable range fron the AOA adjusters...
unboubtedy AWSOME bit of kit...i love mine..have beaten fullon racekites with a 2.5 blurr..

all makes sense Al Pete might have thrown his one up but he has done lots of km with it, but over 40 knots is a new ball park as Charlie pointed out.

Mr Fry , ill place a tag on that Yakuzza missile for you. you'll need it for a good few months before you race with it , oh and your P.B. will jump after your first day in control in 20 knots it is a handful and its very fast but i can give some tips on flying it to good effect. pm me if you like.

doh!

the beaten plummet list keeps growing!!.... infact its bigger than the beaten by plummet club.....

i'll hold onto the distance jumping crown then!!! at least no one beat me in that! lucky for me Butch wasn't there.

Re: one bloke too many options 1 year, 3 months ago #26600

You are also the Taranaki Board racing Champ. You beat 2 guys fair and square in that one even if Dan beat you to the first mark.
