Well its been a while since i've had to experience the bitter side of buggying, but i have been pushing it since i got the new outlaw buggy a few months ago and somethinhg had to give. That something was the kite line on one of my fav kites at 60+kmph and without think i grabed the brake lines and down came the kite onto a million pieces of driftwood and i was still moving(you rookie). The result was ripppppppppp followed by have pulled both brakeline bridles completely out and have rips in the kite where they used to be. Lets just say i think the the reactor 4.9m is toast and i'm back to the 4.7m rage which is gutless.

Well lets just say there was a few minutes of have to be pick up the pieces, fortunately i had take another kite with me so i got that one out and was off again another wise it would have been a 5km walk back to the car. This where the sweet came in as we headed north to the Waimak mouth the wind increased from the SE it was to 15-20knots and we were nuking it a long and after several runs in the 64-68.7kmph i finally got the run i've been looking for the last two years and that was to break that 70kmph barrier and got a new PB of 70.4kmph. Was so stoked had another couple of runs to see if i could get any quicker and then felt as though was pushing my luck so called a day before a totaled another kite.

yes mothering a kite is certainly soul destroying. one of my inflatable got mothered in the waves a week ago. massive tear in the leading edge and burst bladder.

good one one the new pb. i've been trying to extend mine. even though i've nuked 90 mile beach and done a 24hr in 30+ knots i haven't had the conditions right for suoer fast runs..... its a difficult thing getting the wind, beach, angle, hard, smooth, balls all together at the same time to go super fast.

They can all be fixed. Perrin is the master but there are plenty of people who fix surf kites so you may even be able to get it done locally. Got to be cheaper than buying a new one.

Perrin is the main man.
Hmm, to kitesurf or to landboard? That is the question for a kite addicted junkie.

agreed hes the man, note hes up north on holiday for a bit longer but will be back soon for all those repair jobs. He has repaired Northern Als beloved Ngen 2m kite from rags before so id say you have a really good shot at reviving your kite, dont sweat it

congrats on the PB ! def a lot of courage to do those speeds even close-ish to drift wood, same issue plummet has at his local plus some "bonus" rocks etc

Well the wind has been nuking again so took the oppotunity for another blast along the beach with wind speeds gusting at 30 knots it only took me one run to beat yesterdays PB with a 71.9kmph and am now super stoked and man that was fast. So glad i bought the outlaw and put new bearings in and new tyres the other day to it was super stable at that speed though stopping is a different ball game when you go over 60 it has to progressive not the sudden sideways twist you can do at lower speeds.

As for the driftwood we don't usually get so much but after that storm last week its all come down the waimak and whole trees in some places.

awesome ! well done dude !

nice to make it over the 70 too , way better than 69.9 !

i do two slides to come down from mega speeds, its really hard to hold one slide with out feeling unstable , it feels like the tyres just keep digging lower as the slide goes on . depends how much room you have to play with.
