My 8 year old daughter loves kites and wants to learn how to fly a 2 line foil kite. She wants to kite surf like daddy when she grows up...

I am trying to find a 2 line foil kite suitable for her to learn on, but can't seem to find a kite small enough. She only weighs about 22kg.

All you kite makers and kite sellers out there, where can I find a kite small enough not to overpower her in Auckland breezes?

I have a little 1.2m. actually my daughter does she's 6. its called a dp squirt.
Its a basic 2 line kite without much oomph. i've have my 2year old boy flying it!

I have an idea you may be able to get them through ozone distributors?

Thats a pretty basic kite if you want something a bit flasher then ozone do the imp range.

at 22kgs a .8m is lots, my girl is 30kgs and the .8 still fights her on some days

id say go with a 1m on a bar... ozone imp , maybe vibe or prism on handles

Thanks for all the info.

Any idea if this Kathmandu kite might be an worthwhile option?

If it is 58cm x 122cm, that makes it 0.7m2, right?

i'll saye sick with the companies that make kites as there main income
some of the cheap kite from china, wharehouse etc i've tried have been pretty bad
also a good brand kite will have a resale value.
you could look at delta kites as well, they fly a bit better and faster than a small foil.

i still think a bit better kite will be the best option. i have seen many dissapointed kids with the cheaper kites, i even find them hard and unfriendly to fly, i totally agree with 50psi

Ozone imp , PL vibe or Prism / HQ kite in .7 to 1m and you wont look back

resale on a 30 buck kite is 10 bucks on a 100 dollar kite its probably 70

and a fraction of a kite surfing kite, possibly as much fun for youseeing your kid(s) having fun as doing it your self. For me when my girl flys it makes me happier than when i fly myself , no question. BUT a crap foil will really spoil everyones day and get old real fast.

1m imp for 42 dollars as 50 psi pointed out... even if it goes to 100 its still worth it. smallest vibe is a good fall back plan . that bloke selling the imp will have new imps too as i know they were landed and cleared yesterday.
