I'm in the market for a buggy and just went to my local kite shop this week (4 time just for a price of a buggy) and he showed me a black and white print out of a new buggy with a camouflaged set that is just out. Does anyone know anything about it? It's only a bit more than a Competition XR. As my kite shop in only really interested in static kites it's not like he is any help in desiring between that and a new Competition XR. So any help would be great. I can't find anything on the PL web site about it.

Looks like the new race buggy but with barrows instead of bigfoot lites and fancy camo seat. I'd say it's a fair bit better than the XR. Shame it doesn't have the leading link front fork.

dont know mate but get intouch with perrin at www.kiteworks.co.nz ,will be able to find out almost anything.

the pl comp xr is a small lightweight buggy and is easy to transport and assemble...its very easy to drive..
you can get them up to a fair old speed but after 60kph its quit a stressfull expirience and you wouldnt want any suprises going that fast.

im not sure what seat it comes with but always get a seat you can sit "in" rather than just "on" and this will make everyhting feel much better and snugg.

If is gets a bit fun after 60kmh I'm guessing that the racers are all using home built buggies or is there different makes of buggies around as I only know of the PL ones.

my top speed on a PL buggy is 66 kmph and Perrins is 101 kmph so they will go fast , this new buggy should go faster more comfortably that any of the older ones though, esp with the good idea of reversing the goose neck to give a stable high speed and a rigid frame. I would personally go for the flexi back axle and leading link front on the outlaw, that frame looks VERY rigid .

im pretty sure perrin wasnt in a standard comp when he did 101kph...that buggy was pretty heavily modified bro....i dont even think it was a comp anymore, more like some kind of factory bastard built monster deep from the bowels of ashburton

best thing you can do wayneg is come to the moose this weekend and testdrive some buggys from tiny pl classics to true race buggys and moose eaters!!

its a very cool place to test bugggys..

I wish I could make it up there this weekend but driving for 7ish hours each way is not what I call a good time. May be next year.

Talking of the New Peter Lynn Outlaw i took delivery of the production prototype at the beginning of last week, but have only had it out once due to tides winds and training for the Mcleans Island 12hr MTB race. I took it out in about 15knots and used a PL viper 2.6m to start with and got 40kmph out of it without trying. Then put up the 6.8 viper which was way to big but left the 5 at home, it pulled like a train butit was easier and less scary to handle that pull in the outlaw with the high side rails and wide axel. In summary the buggy is way more comfortable that the standard buggy and will be faster when i get it set up. And is great on the beach with heaps of straight line distance like the 16km we have in chch. My only fault with it was i have put the standard downtube and forks in it from my old MkII and think the angle of the rake is a little wrong as its really hard to turn in a power slide and as i haven't spent much time in the larger buggies don't know whether this is the case or thats how big buggies handle. I plan the save some dough and put some wide tyres on it and get a goose/swan neck made for it as i think it'll make it a very fast buggy with these on it.

id say its just a matter of buggy balance. try pulling the front end a bit closer to you next time you bolt it together. e.g. slip the goose neck up the 4 bolt clamp so less goose is showing. make a mark when you get it spot on for future rides
