Oh Yeah, very nice!!
The wheel covers on the first buggy are interesting, they may help a little with resistance of the spokes cutting through the air but do very little for the laminar air flow over the wheel, which is a much bigger resistance.

AWESOME video, that's going to convert more landboarders to the buggy side

the wheel covers have more to do with the

Laminar flow of the fingers in the spokes

got rims , got bearings, got spacer material, got paint, got bush material , got racing slick tyres from GP motorcycles, got a plan

im trying to keep the rims std which used to take a 12mm shaft and make em take a 20mm bolt and axle. im making bushes to hold two bearings per side e.g. 4 bearings per wheel. im picking if i get it correct the wheel will take about 2 mins to stop air spinning and take a truck load of side force. if i want to change the rims i can then sell the old ones back to bike racers and go for carbon rims or insane GP racing rims. the first part is just one of those wonderful experiments that may turn to custard but its huge fun. imagine blasting past folks just because you have a tyre and rim that no one in the world has used before. uk run 19" wheels or 24" / 20" , some running 18"
but there are no credible motorcycle racing slicks for those size rims that i know of.

i realised from Al's awesome halo rims that the tyres had let down the first experiment, so i decided to choose the tyres first and work backwards toward the axle bolt instead. having said that Als rims could yet kick my ass if he fits the hookworm tyres, eh Al

what ever the outcome one of us needs to beat Hansen hehe , thats the bench mark and a bit of a tough ask.

There are heaps of other things to look at as well. The biggest mass moving thru the air-you!! Make sure nothing is flapping, like pants legs, baggy jacket, lowering your frontal area, traction versus rolling resistance etc etc. All the best theories mean nothing compared with the Bert Munroe kinda attitude of try it, if you have an improvement keep going down that path untill your progress goes backwards.

i love this video, its all about flatout and sideways...i love how raw it is.
thoes rims look like the ticket, you could put a lot of faith in them...
below is a pic of my attempt, they are very smoothe and fast but it seems so obvius now that they are just babies..they are very flinchy and light (good for a shortcourse) but the best thing id how ballanced they are..i can see why you endup with a wheel like this for a flat out speed attempt where sideloading is not a issue.

very cool.
