Hey,

Anyone had any experience with a Hornet? Just curious how they compare to other modern kites in the same class such as the Rage, Flow, etc...

Cheers.

I have a 2M hornet, it might not be 'top end' but what you
get from it is pretty amazing.

It does NOT back off. It's a grunty little beast.

If you're a pro, there are better kites, but naturally, the prices are a lot higher.

In my limited experience the Hornet seems a very good kite for anywhere from newbie to intermediate.

If you're anywhere near Muriwai on weekends, you're welcome to try it out.

I've flown a few of the hornets and think they great kites and are a very good beginner-intermediate kite they are predictable and accelerate smoothy through the wind window and are a low light kite. They have a very good and robust construction with the idea of beginners to mind here i.e. repeated ground strikes and re-launches. In Saying they are a beginners-intermediate kite i think there is room in an experienced kite flyers bag for one of these and at there price they are hard to bet.

I can only compare the hornet to the Rage, but i would say they are very similar in how they fly and handle and the hornets are a lot cheaper brand new than the Rage. Never put them up against each other so no idea which would be the faster kite.

i have recommended hornets to many beginners for the reasons they are very stable and point very high for such a kite. I had the chance to fly one in the park again recently and was a bit blown away by the behavior in gusty winds , it was ripping me sideways (plenty of wind that day). i have flown a kite recently that i will now recommend to people in future, unfortunately its not yet on the market, but will be in a few more months. try a hornet sit on your wallet for a while and try an Ozone method before you buy. that way you can see if you agree with me, its so close to coming out you may as well at least be aware, most shop owners will not give you that advise in general, they would usually sell you what is in stock. but there are some good ones in NZ too.
