Hi Guys
New to this sport, but have bought a Peter Lynn buggy and a 3.6 beamer.
Looking for a light air kite and there is a 11m Peter Lynn Guerilla II on trade me.
Is this kite suitable for bugging?
I'm a reasonably fit old bugger and would only kite buggy. Not a water person so would not progress to kite surfing.
Comments about this kite please and I'll most likely end up having a visit to the guru in Foxton once the nor westers come back in spring.

hi the peter lynn arcs are ok on a buggy, but take a bit of practice to use and the older ones are not so googd in light wind ( but i do like mine).

if you are only going to buggy get a four line traction kite of some sort.
a round 6-7 m for 5-10 kt wind.
or if you got the $ see butch in foxton, an ozone acess 8-10m with the depower would be perfect for you, as it has a much higher wind range than a fixed bridle kite. so you'll only need one kite not three or four for diffirent winds(unless you want to go racing then you need ten kites haha!).

butch has lots kites you can try before you buy too!

nah a 11m geurilla (you sure about the size? they usually came in 10m) is a high wind kite. range will be similar to your 3.6.

as 50 states. 6-7m fixed bridle or 10m depower foil. the arcs peter lyn guerilla/venom etc aren't that good in light winds.

ps where are you in the country?
i take it some where near foxton?

Sounds like I'll forget about the PL Guerilla kite and look for a Ozone.
BTW I'm in Wellington. I'ld be looking at buggying Waikanae to Foxton beaches. I assume the beaches south of that would be to busy to buggy on. Am I correct?

wellington is hard core for the water and down right extreme for the land. its possible to buggy/landboard at liall bay and petone but you really need to know your stuff. its tight and the powerlines and busses are pretty damn close. i'd stick to waikanae for a while. anywhere from paraparaumu to wanganui pretty much is excelent for land kiting with the exception of otaki which is poo.

PS why wait till spring? its windy right now!

yep 4 line 6-7m or ozone manta 10m. Manta is more relaxed and almost as fast as the larger ozone 4 lines. cant beat a 4 line for speed and control currently though.

mata would make sense so you then had to have a captive system which is a good way to buggy once you get good. Personally i think your missing a 2m kite esp if your near wellys.

I would agree to go for a 4-line kite for buggying, but i would get another fixed bridle kite like the beamer. As in my opinion they are the best kites to buggy in and made for this purpose. I would recommend the Peter Lynn kites as they are way cheaper than Flexifoil and Ozone kites and think they are better value for money to. Either the Viper or Hornet would suit for a low wind kite though the hornet is a little under powered but is their entry level kite. If your buggy skills are up to speed the viper is a very good kite and the 6.8m will get you moving quite nicely at wind speed 8-10knots. They also do the Core which is a little more expensive but the kite is a better build quality and has more lift than the viper and is more an all round kite for those who want to landboard and buggy on one kite. Checkout http://www.peterlynnproducts.com/ for further details they also have a kite comparison chart on there so you can see which kite maybe suited to you and the type of buggying you want to do.

jimmy is right you also need to look at a 2m ish kite for crazy days. wellington/waikanae/foxton and a lot of 30knots + days.

i give another vote for the 10m ozone manta it is a glorious kite.

I would back the Access as as already mentioned - I buggy a lot with an 8m Access (amongst my other kites) and find the wind range great. As I improved I could handle a big wind range with it and can muck around in light winds on hard pack. Safe kite (as far a 'safe' goes in kiting!) Started with fixed bridle and would never go back after switching to depower.

Fly well!

I had a 2m (fixed) for crazy days but didn't find it that great and now have a 4m depower which is much more versatile and safe.
But fixed bridle is much cheaper!

mtbskier, Give me a call and pop in to see me in Foxton. I got a few kites you can demo, both fixed and depower to get a feel for what it is youre after.
Best beach for landkiting near you would be anywhere between Waikanae and Tangimoana.
