No broken buggy Al, but if I get a fibreglass seat to Eugene soon I might just have both and XL and Bigfoot for this event.

So excited that it is over the long weekend and the full moon is Saturday night!

Cheers

How about a 24hr race? every ones going to be kiting to oblivion anyway. might as well step up. land, water, buggy/board to the victor the spoils.? bring your gps and go for it. for those not robust enough to attempt a solo 24, teams of 2 to 5.

We could aim for 3 world records in one weekend. buggy, landboard and kitesurf 24 hr distance records.

Whose in? are you mad/man enough? or am i just a touch crazy?

I've still got the tutu from the 24hr mtb race i did last weekend (in a team) i might have to bust it out again for some drag queen solo landboarding. hahaha....

i think the idea is good in theory, last moose rexton wanted to run an enduro race (bout 7 to 10k) but it was very hard to organise...

id say with some expert organisers or just a ruddy big notice board with a start time on it...something could be made to happen.

i still like the enduro race, kina like the dakar rally for buggys, make your way their any way you like solong as you get round the flag. but it is buggy only.

i think any kind of event is a good thing, making it happen is another story.

solo un-assisted 24hr would be pretty easy for the land guys. state a start time zero the gps. (gps would be required). and then go for it. no tracj required as the gps will record the distance. just have open slather kiting. you could throw in races in during the 24hr for shits and giggles.

for the water it becomes problematic yourd probably want a flood lit area and rescue boat.

impossible is nothing.

i was dusting off the tent, it didnt mean id actually use it. i can erect the Suzuki as fast as closing the door and break it down just as fast, plus its water proof and has built in lights, a/c and cup holders. i think ill give it one more try

While the sat maps are not very clear on this aspect there is a luxurious 5-star campground at the northern end of the beach. Complete with log fire, camp where you get stuck and dig your own loo. You don't have to worry about drinking water... everybody drinks beer anyway. You can even catch your own feed if the surfers don't scare the gurnards away but cold pies and baked beans is a local delicacy.

Kidding aside, we all convoy up with tents and supplies and rough it for a day or two. Someone will bring fireworks. While someone buggies in the dark someone will go for a midnight bathe - sometimes at the same time. Someone will burn a kite in the campfire and someone will be try flying it afterwards or while it's still burning. All part of the great adventure.

if your lucky, you can get up there with just a kitebuggy
if its been raining you can get up with a front wheel drive honda civic.
if it hasnt been raining (the week during the moose is always glorius) you need a 4x4.

lifts are available

plummet.
if i had my way way id have you hooked into my roofrack, whilst hooked into the manta, whilst wearing your tutu, gliding your way up to the moose on the drive up.
we could launch you from a buggy and fly a small flag supporting crossdressing hardcore landboarders.
i think we should do it anyway just for a laugh.

im behind all nz kiting records, but at the moment the only person i have to beat is craig hansen with a kite almost as old as he is
then ill buy a new kite and do a 24 hour.
