Any good kitesurfing at Whananaki?

I will be kamping there over the coming long weekend.

Used to polesail there before starting kiting;

harbour beautiful and clean but somewhat tidal; if the wind is right its very nice...I'd like to go back and sail it sometime; lovely and warm at this time of hte year

w/south has a great clean open surf beach; again if wind right, great sailing, plenty surf

up the coast, w/north is very beautiful coastline but far too much turbulence unless a clean easterly in my experience....but...if you got right conditions it is a magic place; the surf beach at the end of the paper road at w/north is primo!

i kited in the surf on ocean beach a few years ago witch was awsome but the wind has to be the perfect direction. also tried in the estury but it was way to gusty

What is the "perfect wind" for the area and where is the best place to get a forecast from?

if you're on the coast, then an e for w/south surf beach...maybe se would also be ok
if you're in the estuary then perhaps w, sw..... maybe even a nw I've sailed there in all those
.....s comes over the hills a bit and is a bit more holey

Tough call, try marine radio, tutukaka; they know what the dive boats going to the Poor Knights are getting (or at least supposed to get).

If there was a general sw or w flow, I usually could sail the estuary quite happily; clearing fronts, as usual, brought nice conditions.
If you get seabreezes when the land heats up I'd expect e...

Not much help, huh.....its like the best forecast is the one at the sailing spot right when you rig up!
Its beautiful for swimming too!
