Well, my fellow christchurch buggy pilots and board fanatics...

Have been in touch with Julie the Flexifoil distributor and she has informed me that Sunday October the 4th we will have access to the tarmac taxiway and grass areas at Wigram airfield.

I want to make sure that we put on a good display so im be calling on all the regular guys to come along and ride for the day, in a place that we might get to ride 1 each year.. maybe more often if they like it.

We need to put on a good display so that means we need lots of us!! This could also be a chance for buggiers to increase thier personal best top speed as tarmac will be running very fast plus you will have grass for sliding off your speed.

Richard im hoping you can book that day off to come along and have a blast with us, martin you too.

Plus I'm going to embark (hopefully) on building a good sized wooden kicker for the mountain boarders to strut thier stuff on.

Will post more details here as i get them but get keen and mark this date in your calendar cause this is the first time this opportunity has been available to us and we want them to let us come back!!

joe told me about this the other day. i'll deffo be there. will bring along the ramp pictured and hopefully a new mobile 4m rail i'm working on as well.

i'll spread the word onto some other nutters i know, i'm sure you'd have to have something wrong upstairs to miss this. how often does the nz kiting sceene get a whole frigging airfield to play on?? i expect their to be a barbie?

how about plotting out an exact mile/km and trying a speed trial. or height poles for a high jump comp?

will bring the camera as well.

what times low tide

Sure is Dixie!!! In fact i really hope you do come down... need more riders to come down willing to hurt themselves on the ramps and rails!!

Everyone is welcome, i think it might be like a dollar entry to the flying field. But that is well worth it!!

Hey All!

Great that we have had a bit of response.. Got quite a few people keen to come along and ride to make this a brilliant day!! Im thinking it might be a perfect idea to drag along the chilly bin with a couple of cold beers.. Ill also bring rope and a wakeboard handel so we can do some towing and have a bit of fun..

Dixie are you coming down??

Only a couple of weeks away now and should prove to be an awesome day out!

Ok guys.. Not to far away now..

Need to know if any of you guys that are planning on coming want to have your cars in on the flying field.. I will have mine in there so if you have any things like food that you want to leave close by it can go in my car.

Looking forward to the day.. going to be a blast.

Shame I won't have my new camera before then (I may not have it before christmas to be fair )

If we can't fly till near 1, I might get a round of golf in after all, I"m on a decent streak personally so it's worth me playing

I find it amusing when i think about how many random people there must be in chch that have photos of me on their cameras... Just cruising down the beach and start a few jumps and people swing there cameras at you.. some try do it discreetly others are blatant but its weird when i think about it....

Cant wait.. Ive booked wind with the wind gods so all we need is to turn up and ride!

Joe, what road do we come into the field from?
I'll be bringing my in-laws with their kids, so we won't want to walk too far with them, getting the car in there would make it much easier.

Hope the wind is like it has been today! But the weather's not looking too hot

today is the day my friends!

Drive as you would to the main wigram museum i myself will be looking at a map to figure out how to get there as well... so i suggest if you dont know where the museum is look at a map...

See you all there.. 1pm or just before if you are keen! You wont be able to get your vehicles onto the field but you can just park in the car park.. get there early to avoid getting caught in all the public mess..

The weather will hold!! See you there!

i'll be there whatever, have got the landlady coming to check over the house, so i'm outta here!

haven't managed to get that grind bar welded yet, but will chuck the 2ft kicker on the car and charge my camera batteries. still out of any crazy action with a knackered hip so will only be taking it easy today, but i'm sure theres some mischief to be had.

see yous there

www.airforcemuseum.co.nz/main/FindUs/ i just found a map.

you pansies, wet grass is loads of fun!

in all seriousness, provided it's not horribly gusty and there's no more than a drizzle I'l probably give it a crack, so having cameras out should lead to some entertaining footage

i didn't take any footage personally, to busy runnig round catching kites. but i think this is a fair reconstruction of todays flying conditions:

today alas was not meant to be, but the airfield is soo mint, and i'm very up for getting down there on a nonhuricane day.

Yeah except replace the houses with kites...

Was a shame really, the wind only kicked in strong enough to do anything right before that massive gust hit and took the big kites away.

We are getting another day though so that's a plus, hope for better weather next time!
