Nice... you stayed late then!

Shoulda stuck with the 3.7m. I just felt a little too light under it especially when you hit the ruts. Got drifted over the flags twice on approach to the turn before switching down to the 2.5m.

The 2.5m needs work. Jimmy22 says it behaves the same as the Yak in that it stalls when the wind gets too light. Just scary when the kite won't even steer when it's like that then suddenly kappow and you're off again!

All in all need lots of practice to unlearn my C-quad habits as Gannet well knows. The grooved barrows are good but I need to fit a springboard axle and a LL front now. 3.7m would have been more manageable over the washboard.

Talking about arms... stripping wallpaper yesterday for extra punishment. Lost some washing off the line last night too!

Norty: how'd he skinny's go?

in the end they wernt so bad, they work a lot better on a cut up race track than on pristine sand, gives them more to bite on...i think they will be very good with ballast but i still dont trust them like barrows.....however i did try the super barrows again (barrow tyres/red rims) they are a lower wider profile than standards and they went better than anything iv used so far, a set of proper deepgrooves on them would be the snizzle.
all to good effect in our little season warm up race anyway, somehow i managed to win, twice

i think its because my kite is magic and i had 12kg ballast
race 1 1 AL.LIBREVMAX,KITEWORKSmodifiedN.GEN2.2,SUPERBARROWS,12KGBALLAST
2 GANNET,CUSTOMCARBONGANNETWORKSBUGGY,2.5BLURR,BARROWS
3 PERRIN, KITEWORKSSPECIALBUGGY,2.SOMETHING YACKUZZA,BARROWS
4 JIMMY,CUSTOMGANNET/JIMMYWORX XXRACER,BEACHRACERS CANT RMENBER WHAT KITE??

race 2 1 AL. "
2 JIMMY "
3 PERRIN "
4 GANNET "

i think gannet got the wrath of old freddy the dead penguin, may the rest in peace...and unfortunetly had a major entangelmet of the seeweed kind, jimmy kept well on the beat and diddnt drop kite once, havnt got a clue what happent to perrin, i think he bacame airborn at one point and diddnt come down in the sweetspot??

gannet got top speed of the day with 67.4
awsome racing.

Has anyone died from strange east coast beach disease?

i take it you nuked the whole length of the beach and back for the race.

Points

Al 60 + 60 = 120
Gannet 54 + 45 = 99
jimmy 54 + 45 = 99
perrin 49 + 49 = 98

i'll be up in a couple of weeks and i'll race you buggiers. just need to make a course thats more direct cross shore then i think i'll be able to keep up. upwind tack i'm screwed compared to the buggies.

heheh.. have one at muriwai and have the stream right in the middle of the course. that way i can jump the stream and you soft non jumping buggiers will have to wade through slowly.,.,.... that might give me an advantage.

gannet has the manta turned up yet? have you felt its glory yet?

perrin and I were talking about that one too

No , I havn't see the manta yet
but , I do believe someone in AK has been fondling her
jimmy step away from the manta

and who ordered all this rain for the next week
so I may have to wait a bit before I get personal with the manta

it was a 2.5m blurr, it was just too much for the 4m yak in the early hours, bugger i need a 3.3 spirit, oh well thats not so bad i guess

i have been looking at a super manta 2 2009 for the last 30 mins, its very nice, if every part of it looks this good it should be an awesome jumper and smooth powerhouse.

i ran over the pengiun (it was dead before hand) it didnt seem to mind, poor little guy.

HOWEVER we did have the bech to ourselves which enabled a large course as we didnt need to consider other members of the public. Now Gannet has crossed over to the dark side he will be back for sure so it could be 7-8 kiters racing next time.

Cj and Graeme seemed to have some fun, it was hard for him as he was learning and we were minumum 4-5 years exp each , but he did bloody well i thought and will be cranking before long.

i ran over a bloody great sea eel once. well it was about as thick as my calf.... infact it was half an eel the rest if it had been eaten by something,.

now what about a chicane in the middle of acourse? rather than going straight point to point around flags have a longer course and a couple of flags in the middle you need to S around while getting to the far mark?

Ill be there in a couple of weeks and be keen for any madness. also super keen to fly the 09manta to see what there difference is to my 08... Apparently its faster to turn than the 08. hehe maybe we should stack them to create 20m supermanta!!

Hehehe... buy a few liters of urethane and cast some ugly looking sea-slugs and drop one every few meters! I like it.

hohoho.....
preparing some deepgroove superbarrows (big thanks to jimmy for the tooling and kit) as we speak, the rubber is still smoking..
this will be the first time iv ever run full deep grooves, the sea slugs will get chopped up by these bad boys
i love the chicane idea plummet, anything to make it intresting and a bit more challangeing, we had an awsome trick little upwind kick in one course, then a mad downwind hook that popes you out like a spudgun in another...
anybody got any ideas for anoth course of are we just going to plonk flags in at random again?

Random is good
If we thought about placement we wouldn't need OSH
I say random crossovers too
just to keep northernal on his toes
