ok here is my latest idea. its abit left feild.

take a standard channel truck design. ditch the spings and elastomers and use a carbon leaf spring. hell ditch the pivot also and just run leaf spring to suspend the axle......

its abit of a mad scientist idea but i think it can work.

now i just have to figure out how to get it suspending and twisting in the right angles without flexing in the wrong angles.....

Use two springs per truck:

Hard to integrate at the wheel connection point, but easier to adjust the turning characteristics by modifying the taper of the leaf springs.

Wanna work together on this one?

Yes tho i think one big arse spring might just do it.

only problem with this design is that the wheels are independant and will get negative/positive camber as the spring flexes.. does this matter??
maybe not. negative camber might turn out to be a good thing. like a race car.....

also if you jump on the board without carving like landing the spring will flex down and the wheels will be pointing in different directions,.. which probably does matter....

so i'm thinking the axles need to me tied together. so maybe I have a solid axle and then two leaf springs in parellel with the board

The axle would certainly fix the problems, but it might add too much weight... At this point its important to consider your design goals... Your main aim was to reduce weight as much as possible right?

Then again, you might be able to use something like a hollow windsurf sail batten as the axle, as the strength required is likely to be fairly minimal... It's just there to keep the wheels separate, rather than being a load bearing component.

I think my version would only combat the problem of torsional twisting (which might not be a huge issue anyways)... Would you consider tapering the thickness and width of a singular leaf spring?

my main breif is this

stable at speed
low maintenance
light weight is secondary.....

so a truck i can do 60kph on no worry about bearings, pivots etc. i don't think this design will be lighter than a skate truck but as long as its between that an a channel i'll be happy.

Hey, could you post up an informative picture of your idea, I'm not too mechanically minded and I just can't see it.

kite deck trucks are the bomb so if you can make something better then wow. springs are half the solution , a dampner is the other. rubber is both but metal is just a spring, you need to think about dampening the rebound too to have a working model. im looking forward to your ideas becoming something real

lets face it i don't think my idea will on any day be better for the general board riding public the spikes trucks.

but it might work for my wants and needs.... which turn out to be slightly different to that of the stabdard landboarders.

see my latest rendition. bassically an carbon I beam in the center of the truck to form the pivot and remove the annoying wear components, bearings, pivots etc. the possibilty to add elastomer for bottom out/ over flex protection would be easy if required. the overall construction would be pretty easy too and not use too much carbon.
