Can't say that one particular board is better than another, depends on what you want to do, How heavy you are, where you ride etc.
I ride a Flexi airdeck which is great for big air jumping, but hopeless for riding toe down or heel to toe carving. I have adopted jump transitions to turn at the end of a run so what ever you ride, you adapt... or try something else till you find what works best for you

i made my own carbon glass deck. its got channels trucks is abit longer, lower, more f;exible and heavier than a freestyle deck. I jump around abit and also like to go fast so i want a board thats stable and not too heavy. tho i end running my cheap heavy wheels as they are bigger volume and better on my soft sludgy beach than my lighter mbs wheels.

ps carbon is the way and the light for a landboard. its strong as hell flexible and light. i can run my board over with the car (well the missis has) and its sweet as.

For me the perfect so to speak deck would be really light and short for freestyle but long for mountain boarding downhill. So i have to compromise for a mid length deck that will do both. Im building mine at the moment so we will see how that comes out....

oooh what have you settled on for a final design/ material?

pic's of course are mandetory.

yeah the weight of my board with the heavy as wheels will offend some freestylers. but for me its the best suited board to my conditions/style,.,.,.,.... one day a dedicated freestyle board might be built.

Only reason I am asking, is I distribute the GI range and would value you opinions on what board/s would suit what best. I personally have no kite experience and don't want to be pushing people into the wrong product. I know I can and will ask my supplier but thought I would pitch it to this forum first. Have a look at my site (listed below) and tell me what you think is best for Landboarding and why. Cheers again

those vegas hubs look the fruit.. they also look real expensive....

i'm looking for light weight large volume tyre/wheel combo. 9 or 10 (tyre size) inches or bigger. can you do anything like that?

also i'll be interested to see what the bionic trucks are worth in nz. how do you think they would last in sand/salt water enviroment? also i like going fast so they need to be super stable. without being to bias compare them to the mbs matrix as thats what i'm currently running.

Plummet: to answer your questions.

The Vegas Hubs are not only "the fruit" but they have been known to increase the riders sex appeal by up to 10 times. All this for only $179 per set (incl standard bearings)

The Bionics have similar powers and go for $159 (each) I am not to sure about how they go in the sand and salt but will find out and let you know but my gut feeling is they will be fine.

9" and 10" wheels, I'm looking into it to see what I can find. I do remember I had a set of Rip Off T2's. They were huge and light and good for running over small animals and children But I sold them ages ago and regret it. They were an awesome freeride Tyre.

I hope this helps. If you want to see a GI Board and have a play on it I should be in New Plymouth on the night of the 22nd Oct Let me know.

Cheers

Scottie

cool thanks.

i may indeed get some of your vegas hubs in the future. they look the shizle. unfortunatly even if i increase my sex appeal by a factor of 10 it won't make the missis any less grumpy. ....

i've heard good things about the bionics. less wear and tear than the mbs. but obviously more expensive. ..... . . . . . i'll look at them down the track when my mbs's wear out (they are wearing fast).

for now my highest priority is big volume tyres that are light. i've got some chinese shitters but they add almost 2kg to my board over the mbs tyre/whell combo i have...

ps no point getting hubs until i know they will work with the big tires i find.

Yeah heaps less wear and tear than "other" trucks! No springs to rust out, no king pin bearing to rust and seize. The only moving part on the bionics is really the urethane cube. The king pins and mounting hardware are stainless, so the only part that can rust is the axles. I spoke to Alistair (my supplier) in OZ and he said they have had awesome feedback in regards to the Bionics. I hope that helps.

I'm still looking for tyres so will keep you posted.

Spoonhead... you may be right but there are limited places in Taupo where the wind is ideal but I am keeping it in mind.
