TOPIC: New MBS dealer

New MBS dealer 3 years, 8 months ago #17707

Hey guys, my name is Blair, some of you know me from the mountainboarder forum, recently I became a MBS dealer.

MBS now has a pretty good range of Kite boards and light components. Like the new pro 90 kiteboard, Ti vectors and skate trucks. I have pictures of these cool products but couldn't work out how to set them up in this post. I'll find out later and set them up, until then you can find all the pictures and info on www.mbs.com and email me for prices and other info at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I have alot of the components in stock but not boards. I would like to do another order in October or early Novemeber. So if you're looking for something drop me a line and I'll see what I can do. I can get anything you like from MBS. I am also happy to look into getting Trampa, Kitedeck or Anarkite products if people are interested.

If there's anything else you want to know just let me know.

any idear on a prise maby some silvers

Re: New MBS dealer 3 years, 8 months ago #17714

The rockstar pro's are $180 per set, standard rockstars or twiststars are $90. All the hubs come without bearings, which I sell for $30 a set. So I can do a set of Rockstar pros with bearings for $200.

I've only got standard bearings in stock but MBS also does stainless but I would need to sell them at about 80 or 90 dollars, which I think is abit pricey, but if people want stainless I'm happy to bring them in.

I'm not sure if there is a major performance difference between the stainless and the standard on the beach and in the salt water. If there is a big difference in the performance for beach riding I might look at stocking the stainless as well. I seem to have gone off on a tangent but I'll run with it anyway. If anyone has tryed both standard and stainless could you let me know how they compare. Also - all the pro model boards come with stainless hardware and bearings.

the standard $30 bearing are completly pointless on the beach they will seize after one or 2 decent outings. unless you tear the inner seals out and grease with a moly compount grease quite often.

The problem with the cheap bearings is that the seals are crud. water gets in. Possibly offering a third option. Decent double lip seal bearings (purchased from a bearing supplier like Saeco) might be worth while. pricing will be somewhere inbetween the stainless and cheapies.

To give you some idea of performance i've been running my double lip seal bearings for 8 months and have had one failure. the cheapies would have died 7 1/2 months ago.

Ok, so s/s is the way to go, I'll order afew sets in my next shipment and I will look into those double lip bearings plummet mentioned. I'm keen to try and offer a range of products and get in special orders for people. So if anyone has other suggestions let me know and I'll look into them.

Canton.brad, If you want s/s I can order them in for you and get the black rockstar pro's at the same time. I'm looking at making the order during October to give people time to think things over get there orders in.

i'm interested in the bionic channels and de-ex p type genious trucks. also what are the newish mbs vector trucks like? are they as stable as the matrix. whats the cost.

Re: New MBS dealer 3 years, 7 months ago #17742

I would say the vectors are an intermediate between matrix and skates in all aspects - weight, price and stablity. I believe they would be more stable that skates but less than matrix.

Standard vectors are $160 per set
Vector Pros are $220 per set.

Does that help you out? What are de-ex p type genious trucks? Eventually I would like to have a board set up with vectors for people to try but I think that will have to wait till next year.

it turned out the manta wasn't as good in low wind as i'd like but it was way better than i foresore in higher wind. so far i've had it out up to 22 knots.

so i swapped your old 10m venom with Dixie for his 06 14m frenzy. I get alot more low wind days than high wind. The manta will be good from 13knots to around 25. looking back over the last year i've only been out once in about 25 knots but plenty 8-12 knots days.

static flying the 14m on sunday i could get 3-4foot airs doing pendulums in 5-7 knots. NICE.

already missing the venom tho. i'll probably get another one when funds allow. just for those crazy days.

Hey Dave, your not getting it back...lol. Thanks for the new tip stick material, much appreciated.
Might get to use the Venom again tomorrow as we are planning an afternoon trip to Foxton estuary and the forecast is looking ok for 20plus.
Have you got used to the slower turn rate on the Frenzy yet? don't worry cause when your 3-5m up in only 12-14 knots you will have plenty of time to sort that out..lol

snergy 10m will be the go dave.. there is also a venom 2 but the synergy is the ticket mate.. sounds like the manta is going to fall victim to the 80/20 rule..

nah the manta will still be the number one kite. particulary with those summer breezes that kick in around 15-18knots.

long term goal will be to swap the 14 frenzy out for a faster turning beast maybe a 12 or 15 manta. or newer frenzy. i understand they are alot faster.

yeah i have a handle on the slower turn i use the same techniques i used on the 10m frenzy in low wind. i found i really have to watch it at the edge of the window dip it down speed it up before turning back and it is easy to swing under the kite when jumping causing it to over fly and luff.

better than not flying at all.

Those trucks are the ones made my Design Extreme. Not sure that you can get the P centers anymore....not even sure you can get the genisis trucks at all.

Plummet if you are serious about those trucks get in touch with Butch. He rides for design extreme and is thinking of coming to NZ around xmas time so if you are def serious then he could possibly being some with him.

Rock on MBS!!! ill be getting my parts when ive got some moneys.

Postage would be about 10 or 15 dollars, I just use track packs where I can. The vectors have a 9.5mm axle, same as skates. Since I don't have any ss bearings now I will have to order them for my shipment late this month. If you want to get the vectors on your board soon you could buy the bearings later when they come in and I'll post the bearings for free.

I will try to make my order at the end of this month. So far I will be getting Vectors to replace my stock, ss bearings for skate/vectors and channel trucks. Is there anything else people would like?

Re: New MBS dealer 3 years, 7 months ago #17758

Just cheaking my price list and I will be selling ss bearings at about $90, less if they are bought with trucks or hubs. Is that a good price? Can people buy them locally for less? I will also cheak Saeco for their prices and double lip bearings.

Just cheaked the website out, its got some really cool stuff on it. If people are keen to get some of the gear I could see if I can bring in a shipment. Because of the high shipping costs I would probably only charge cost price. Truth be told, I really just want to take a look at the gear before I post it off to people.

i would like some of those de -ex trucks but not yet. spent more than all the spare $$ i had on the manta.
vectors interest me but really i'll be sticking with channels as i also like high speed madness.

maybe i'll make a dedicated freestyle deck in the future.

Ahh.... just remembered something else i'm interested in big as large volume light 10 inch tires/4" rims. i have a set of mbs's rockstar hubs and tyres but they are almost useless on my soft beach. so i use real cheap heavy wheel/tyre combo. it adds almost 2kg to my board over the mbs's.

I will definately take a set of Vectors off you, Let me know how to order.

Re: New MBS dealer 3 years, 7 months ago #17773

DIXIE - I'll PM you all the details and you can have them on your board by next week.

Zeno - Did you also want a set of vectors now, or do you want them later in summer? If you want them later let me know if you want standard or pro and I'll make sure I keep a set in stock.

plummet - I could get you a deck in this shipment if you like. Parts won't be in NZ till about mid November if I order at the end of this month. Are the tires you want the ones off kitedeck? Also I think no sno does 10 inch, possibly quite heavy tho.

Does anyone think I should get a set of pro skates and a grab handle in my next shipment, I don't have them in stock right now but I could get some in if anyone thinks they are products I should stock.

i can't remember the brand of tyres. they are light and big,,,..... i'll find out.. i know butch has them on his explorer board.

nah i wont need a deck as i'll make my own carbon deck when required.

. . . . but not yet tho i'm not at a stage where my deck weight is slowing my freestyle progress. mainly because there is very little style haha.

found the info. here it is.

"They are Primo 9 inch Rims and Tyres. The lightest i could find, unless ya can get a set of the old Earthboard 9 inchers, which i also have"

i looked at importing some but it was getting pretty expensive. if you could get these in amongst a shipment of something else it might be worthwhile.

the t2's by mbs are 9inchers, but to go bigger i think you have to go for a brand called skyways (?) who do 10 and i think 12inchers. heavey tho, and you'd need to make sure your board didn't have wheel bite. the no-sno guys sometimes ride with the big tyres, but then no-sno's have little to no wheel bite. i think you'd need longer axels on your trucks, again mbs have bought these out, but there custom orders and probley quite pricey.

When I get a shipment of stuff from Europe I will look at getting some primo wheels in. I think if I could get them at a good price they would make a good subsitute for T1's or T3's.

When people have bought ss bearings in the past, what price have you been paying?

Something I forgot to mention in my first post - I have hillbilly full finger and half finger gloves in stock. I have small medium and large.

$60 for full finger
$50 for half finger

If anyone is interested.

Guys,

Sorry, there will be no more D-ex trucks coming out the doors for a while, and sadly, definately not any P centres. I am trying to source a set myself with no luck at all. Unless we can find someone to facilitate a decent production line its hard to get the boards out there working from one mans garage. Its all good though, i have a fairly decent selection of my own which youre all welcome to borrow when i finally get back there to NZ. Plan was to be there by now, but unless someone on here wants to buy my house here in the UK, it may be some time...

Keep up the good work Blah.

bummer with this global recession your house price has just dropped. considered renting it? buying here in the deflated market and selling your uk house when the market is good? should make a killing if you can wait it out.

bummer also about the de-ex trucks...... one day i'll lay my hands on a set.

Hi All
Got my new Vector trucks from Blair, thanks for the promt delivery.
I put them on my Flexi Airdeck, takes a bit of a modification to get them to fit, but nothing major.
I did not realise how bent the original trucks were till I took them off, still, they have been on there for 3 years so I guess I got some good wear out of them.
Looking forward to trying them out now, will let you know how they go
Cheers
Dixie

No, did not need new holes. keep the old rubber pad from the original skate truck and get longer bolts, then bolt it on. Does not look like they were made for each other, but functional never the less.
Also had to add a washer to the spacer on the axle to get the original wheels to sit snug.
I am going to fill the plastic moulding that comes with the Vectors with black RTV to keep the sand and water out. Took it out on next doors drive way and had a roll down there a few times. to be honest it just felt a bit stiffer to turn, but I have not tried it with a kite yet, hopefully this weekend.
Cheers
Dixie

Re: New MBS dealer 3 years, 7 months ago #17960

Hey, glad to hear your enjoying the trucks, I haven't yet tryed a set out so let me know how they run, I'm thinking of getting a Pro 95 with the pro vector pros.

The trucks might just feel stiff becuase the rubbers haven't been broken in. Also I'm going to bring in sets of rubbers and pivot cups for the vectors so just drop me a line if you need any.

Just a bit stiffer than the skates will be excellent. I normally ride my kite setup rather loose but when i ride calebs mountain board there is like no turn which i cant handel.

Ahh come on money i want my set.

I've decided to change afew things that I hold in stock so its time for a sale.

I've decided not to carry T1 in stock, I think the T3 is better so I'll just stock that (I will still bring T1 in on request for those who want it) Also I have a set of red twiststars in stock which I'll sell off cheap, becuase there are 5 different colours and its too expencive to keep them all in stock so I'll just bring them in on request.

So I've got one set of each black and red T1 going for $70 (below replacement cost)
And a set of red twiststars for $70 (Also below replacement cost)

Just to note if you want to make a full set of wheels I've got standard bearings for $30 (or stainless on their way for $90) and tubes for $40. Also I have Black and white Rockstars for $90 or Rockstar pros for $180.

F3 ladder straps - $20
MBS board bag - $150
9 Inch T2 tread - $90
Vector pivot cups - $20
Stainless bearings - $90

Another Order might be made in December if there is interest.
