Well what a day it was today.

Woke up to find one of the best winds for the beach. NE!! woohoo. still to cold for me to want to hit the water so the beach was on.

A whole series of texts later to various people and the meet was set for 2 oclock north beach.

had almost the whole gang by 3ish...with myself on mountain board, will in the buggy, nathan on mountain board, craig hansen on buggy and richard in buggy and finally caleb on mountain board.

The wind was cranking....16 knots give a few more for gusts and we were rocking.
Stupid me decided on the 12m ion 2 for the day and what a choice...big floaty jumps on the board.
Nathan on his sabre 9.5m which was POWERED even for him....some nice jumps and spins...and wipeouts as well.
Will spent most of the day on craigs 8m synergy and that thing is QUICK...watched some great wipeouts from that combo...
Richard was flying a 2 m ish PL race foil...cant remember the name. and did 61kmph clocked on his gps...i think all that were riding the buggys managed somewhere around the same speed at some point of another.
Caleb was learning on his mountain board with the sabre 7m and by the end of the day was doing well.
Craig was rocking with a series of kties over the day. started with a small reactor i think or whatever it was but he broke it....then continued the day on another reactor...some nice jumps and good speed runs...i think he also blitzed the entire beach...! waimak to southshore...twice!!! not bad for the first ride of the season.
O and then we had Ray turn up while we all went to the waimak. He hit the water on the 10.5 ion 2 and was ripping...some nice wee jumps thrown in to boot.

All in all one mighty brilliant day out for the first good ride of the season...bring on the warmth of summer for today got freaking cold by the end of it.

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

I'm sore all over. The 8m synergy is deadly

Great session. I couldn't believe how great it really turned out today. I'd say it's in the "top ten of all time." Next time I have to beat that damn orange blokart... he is quick.

If Richard clocked 61, I can't imagine how fast Craig and I were going

Craig's estimates are 70-80kph, which is probably about right... seeing as he has done the moose numerous times before. That 8m synergy is fast... Today was definitely the fastest that I have ever gone.

And that 12m ion.... It's like your own personal elevator. 8) Sheet in and go up.

Let's get on the water.
Cheers guys, Will

funfunfun! alltho it seems whenever i get near a kite i've got flu :? , but couldn't resist the pull of a stonker day at the north shore.

second attempt at a bar and depower, first was on a snowboard with a foot and a half of powder beneath, second time is in yesterdays tempest. but what fun , reckon i could well get into that. couldn't quite figure out how to stop, hence the inventive landings, but was getting nice powerslides by the end of the day. alltho doing them switch is soo tricky, ate sand right next to 3 fine foxy ladys  . jumps next i think.

i'll bring my camera along to the next one and see if i can get some good footage, the light was amazing around half five.

8m synergy? wouldn't you need a whole bucket load more wind for that kite? or is way more powerfull than the venom?
i know my 10m venom is only just starting to fire up at those wind speeds.

I am still sore in the abs 2 days later, makes bending over loads of fun NOT!!!

It was a great day and good to see everyone there. Well pleased with my 61 kmph its my highest yet and was hoping to break 60 this year to!! Though i had the GPS on the wrong screen and didn't know how fast i was going and got the speed wobbles a few times so backed off a bit, especially after wiping out twice on the way up to the wiamak. if i ahd known how fast The kite was the 2.6m PL viper i like that kite in those winds i find the 3.3m blade a bit to much in that wind.

So good to get out in a decent wind after only a few light wind session over the winter. Blew those cobwebs away.

scrapping this ride then. all the sites i can find have the wind going from sse to nne, and wind speeds 3km to 11km, but that just don't sound umpthy enough to drag me down the beech.

question, 1 knot is about 1 mile per hour yeah? so that would make todays max wind about 5 knots?
