Ahhhh... just new of the press.



I was kiting in a paddock. i finished a run too close to a fence that was going down wind. thinking to myself at the time. it would hurt if i got dragged through that fence. good thing i'm a compentant kiter in control of my kite! (fool)



just at that moment a rouge gust hit me from a different angle lofted me (not too high maybe 5 or 6 foot) and straight into the fence. so i slammed into the fence the lines wound around a 4" post and sent the kite right into the powerzone the post proceeded to snap like a carrot and smash me in the face/head. luckily my helmet took most pf the impact. however i still have a 4cm gash and 3 stitches in my forehead as a reminder.



Any way somehow during this the primary safety popped (i'm on the 10m frenzy) and the kite fell to the ground. so i didn't happen to smash into any old standard fence this bugger was also electric... so while i was sitting there with blood spurting out my head like a cheap spatter movie the fence was shocking me and continued to do so until i untangled the kite



aHHHH....



Also i was kiting nigel no mates so had to pack up my own gear walk about 1km back to the car and drive my self to the emergency room.....





whats the morrell of the story.





don't kite any where near fences.



always wear a helmet. it saved my head/face from alot worse dammage

I've had a couple of trips to the A&E over the years concusion when i got lofted in a turn by a blade I 3.3m on a gusty day and hit the ground hard had a helmet on anotherwise could have been worse and took the skin off the palm of my hand buggying on tarmac and got flipped and no gloves.

i didn't take any pic's inbetween accident and stitching. when i take the bandage off in a couple of days i suppose there could be post stitching photo's.

ps checked the kite and lines today it seems to have come out of this with no breakages apart from some dings on the bar. there is my blood all over the bar and chicken loop.

careful you didnt electroplate the kite strings with all that iron in your blood, remember the electric shocks from your last outing, they could get worse with a coated line. good to see you had the head gear on.

the worst is over now dave, broken spar, electric shocks from the kite, then a fence plus shocks from 240v. yep it doesnt get any worse than that. have you kited under any ladders recently ?

well i haven't wrecked any kites or broken any bones yet so i'm sure it can get worse.

hehe no i've not kited under any ladders. i think i'll be staying away from structures for a while.... atleast until the stiches are out.

ps i think electric fences are well above 240v.

don't worry i'm put off that easily i'll be back for more!.

sounds to me like you need to buy a buggy, move to murawai and bang around the moose where its so big you cant possibly hurt yourself :wink: not that im biast or anything.
