hmmm. i was kiting today in a paddock and my bar (10m 05 frenzy) was humming like high voltage lines. if i took my hand on and off the bar it would give me a zap through my gloves. conditions where overcast with rain threadening. there were some thunder clouds lurking in the distance. the bar hummed for and zapped me for 15-20 mins. What the...... why did this happen? should i stop wearing latex gimp suits when i kite?

go to the below link on this topic i raised on the flexifoil web site.

Something i haven't thought about before. (well its never happened until the other day).

yeah it happens.

we had it with a trainer kite that was getting very lightly rained on

could hear a bit fast bzzzt bzzzt bzzzt, so we put it down.

I've heard of guys getting lockjaw from kite shocks too.

mates 5 year old asked what would happen if we got hit by lightning, i said we would cook.

he said "then we could eat you! you'd feed lots of people!"

My partner and i were up in Ruakaka last week and thinking of getting out in the water, but didnt because the clouds looked ominous.... then a massive thunder storm came through!

Dave and Sue said they've experienced sparks jumping from board to water when getting air. and one of their friends apparently had a spark jump from his head to the water..apparently it hurt.
