2 days of hardcore kite buggy ,lKGB , power kite and kite surfing action
Come prepared for wild west coast weather

Saturday & Sunday the 18th and 19th of October
Tides:
Sat 18th low tide 6:49 pm 4WD`s up beach at 7:30 am or 2:30pm
Sun 19th low tide 7:42 pm drive back at 6:30pm (8:30am if you need to leave early)
(times have been adjusted for daylight savings)
Sunrise and Sunset is: 6:33am and 7:39pm
Full moon will have been on the 14th
Where:
Muriwai Beach on the west coast ,west of Auckland

Camping in the dunes ,make sure you bring everything you need to survive.

wouldn't you want a low tide to be in the day time so you can buggy/board on the hard sand for several hours either side of low tide??

or am i missing something?

Anyway can anyone give me transport from perrins shop on the friday? Ill have a buggy a board and some kites...then will need to be back on sunday to fly out again....if anyone can help me out then send me a PM PLEASE!!!

i think it will be fine if you go the early run up the beach, there are 2 days and i doubt any lando can board for 6 hours a day over 2 days, i think there will be at least 6 hours of boarding available each day looking at those tides, you just need to nuke the beach both ways as well

sund down is at 830 ? not sure on that one. Basically you board untill the sand goes away then use the down time to eat and get tent sorted , then back to boarding again, the moose doesnt remain unusable for long.

we can teach you how to buggy the dunes in the off time.

When are people going to be going up the beach??? On the friday or on the saturday morning? Really like to know so i can sort my self out with some transport. If you think you can help PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me a PM.

i dont have a 4x4 zenon unfortunatly, id say the smart move is to go up on the saturday morning, second the friday some time. gotta make the most of the time and the chance you will get the right wind/ sun.

i'm sorted apart from i need to scam rides up and back (hopefully only for my gear as i'll be boarding) and a spot in someones tent.

there is one previso tho. my youngest daughter need a heart operation which might happen around that time. if the timing is wrong i may have to bow out.....

we have the number for the guy who sorts out the bookings for the moose/target range, so we should know in lots of time.

evidently the other live fire range has been closed so the moose is getting used more often. It would be pretty dumb to go near the bombing range target area as there are definatly unexploded bombs there, but the rest of the area is cool, except for the bird nesting grounds which are taped off during nesting, they are fairly small and easy to identify/ keep away from. It would be nice if we could work with the greenies , we are the only eco friendly users of the dunes after all.

I doubt 5000 kite buggys could do the same damage as one 40knot storm or 3 mx bikes

its part of a govt scheme to get kids outdoors again, 5000 stealth buggies and 5000 blurr 3.5m unleashed on the west coast, thought that would have made the papers ?!

can i park my car an someone house. don't really want to leave it at the muriwai car park for the weekend.

last year it was east wind on the second day, arguably the best day !!
i was on the flat sand for most of it too Dave so you would have still been grinning.

im planning to go up in a borrowed rav4 , i was sleeping in the car so no tent. You can park car at my house on the north shore (off street) . that half of your troubles solved if suitable

ok. i'll park outside peters house and go for the sparrow part up the beach saturday morning option (that's if i can jump on board one of you guys vehicles gannet, jimmy22). might try and borrow a tent.... might be a beter option than trying to scam a sleep in someone elses

I'm look at about 5.30 am on the grass and up the beach before 6am.
I will have one seat only spare,plummet yours if you can get here on time.

sounds like a truck to me too. if it can take a full on wave surge and remain upright im impressed. peter took a bbq last time but im not sure this time..

hey guys...im back...im goin up friday avro hopefully with zenon? you comin bro? and perrin...or thats the plan...so anybody who needs a lift up then or some kit taking let me know....then back down sunday avro.
taking bbq and sangers and maby a bottle of beer or 3.

you could prpbably kip in my tent plummet mate as im gonna be in the van but unsure yet how full it will be as may have a couple of mates in tow, so if you dont mind sharing its yours...its a big 4.5manner so should have space as a resort resort.

I will leave my bbq at home then and use your AL.
that will make more room for the water, food, kites (6),buggys(3)+wheels(9), and of course bed and beers.....

lol...sure thing....mine is one of them novelty old style bbq that you have to actually make go with bits of paper an the like...but it works....if you blow on it enuff!

do you wont to stop in on friday and take my bbq, 2 burner and gas bottle with fold up legs.

I think about coming to cheak out the kiteboarders on saturday or sunday, Which day is best cos I can only get out there on the afternoon on saturday or anytime on sunday.

toearly to say Blah.. although id say saturday arvo might be good, most are cranking up sat morn at 6am or friday at 6pm and its low late saturday arvo or early sunday morning would be good. keep and eye on windguru or whatever, its just down to low tide and a good wind

ok whats some good wind web sites for muriwai/moose?

i want to know what the wind will be doing. if its going to be blowing 40 bastards then not much point me turning up as i'm good up to maybe 25 knots and thats REALY pushing it. if its going to be fanging through at 30-40 knots i'll be sitting on the beach.

i'm hoping for a magical 15-18 knots.

ps had a good zing on the manta today. that beast is certainly going get me going fast..... ooooh its just keeps hauling as you speed up. i recond i was going around 40 and i only had a 100m may 150m of beach before each turn and it was about 12-13 knots.

ohh bring of the moose looking foward to streatching this kites legs. can i break 60 on the board? ..... well i need to break 50 first.

eh plummet....man made beer so when the winds gone sailors had something to do....think about it.....it make sense..we are newage sailors waiting, hopin for that perfect wind...but lets face it, we do spend a while of our time on the piss....
anyway...iv got some mates coming with me who crash kites better that they fly them so if it is howling you can get to know your tent buddy.
besides, the weather is going to be perfect...obviusly!

just to completly freak you out Al i don't drink. don't worry i'm silly enough normally to make up for the lack of alcahol comsumption.

i've borrowed a mates 4m radsail pro which might serve as a high wind kit if the wind pushes over 25knots. im sure at 25 knots the 4m is still pretty powered but i doubt its more powered that the 10m manta.

ps he wants to sell the rad sail so if you know i've any one who wants a cheap kite..... deals could be done.

kontiki in an off shore..... yes al im sick as hell , but my wife has it too and my little girl so we are balancing rest with caring for each other, chicken pox suc as an adult , and you can have it more than once, just ask the wife.... i would so rather be at work today gathering my nearves for the moose. currently my nearves are making all food taste like card board and faking my body dropping into a gorse bush every half hour or more, my eyes are a good candidate for a horror film and my feet wont get warm no matter what i do, did i mention objects look out of square , my ears can hear crickets munching on grass next door and some of the blisters are in my throat ? i am usually pretty lucky with illness i dont even know who my doc is , but this one was brewed up specifically for my genes by my lillte lady so i didnt have much of a chance, 2 weeks ago i was packing myself about getting it, but i came to accept it might happen and i had gotten over the consequences before i got it myself. photos would be good esp of any new buggs or ideas to improve ours, and pics of the grooves too pete. have a beer for me Al. Ill look fwd to when i can get out there again.

I hope they work ......
and finshed a BF front fork ,leading link one ,in 2205 s/s.
so the BF XX buggy will mooseing it and there for anyone to try.

my wife and i were 111'd to hospital on saturday and there we stayed until moday for me and tuesday for her, the drugs were good and i swear i was flying over the sand dunes with you guys. a grim picture indeed

good times good times. great weather good company flying kites...

high lights for me. new top speed pb yeah. passing cars hahaha. almost died laughing at the teathered flying.
