You could always pitch a tent in a paddock behind the sand dunes....

Jimmy send me a PM and ill see if i cant help to arrange you somewhere to stay.

Sounds absolutly awesome!

But..... Tim, i would like you to add to that list "expression session" under Kite Buggy. Why did you think that we cant have the buggys freestyling like the boards....

Blame Kennie, Of course we can do a Buggy 'Expression Session', would be great to know how many kite buggy guys can actually get one off the ground....might have to get Perrin down here, there's an idea!

Kennie is here, if he's not at work he's ripping it up at the Estuary, his riding is getting pretty smooth with some slick freestyle, like quite a few of the Groms down here.
Mike Chapman helped me out, & much appreciated!

I'm on an express flight back to NZ ... boarding tomorrow afternooon 8)

Now we are up to 2 (3 if Mason's is ridable) airborne buggies and I'm sure that a certain PL user from the deep south also has the potential to get all 3 wheels off the ground...

My latest homebrew creation is almost ready to hit the production line as well...

Also, I have organized a 'dedicated photographer' to show up at the beach for a couple of hours. Hoping to put together a few short videos featuring the CHCH landkiters in action.

I'm feeling pretty excited about this one.
Will.

that would be me...

getting it off the ground is easy, it's just getting it to land without bending it that is tricky

mad wind
??????? still didnt think it was that windy, i wasn't even proper powered on the 12, and still had the 10 to spare
harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....

As long as I remember and have nothing else on I'm likely to make an appearance with camera bag.

If I don't score some buggy time with grand master hanson I'll be clicking some off.

Was at the Yoda session at waikuku, but after late winds, a work callout and blustering winds later on I didn't stick around.

PETER LYNN KITES have very generously put up a 5m Pepper II for grabs for the fastest buggy run over the weekend. They will be sending up their latest race buggy to help us get the good times in... take out the fastest time on the race buggy & Pepper II kite & you'll get to take the 5m kite home!
I'm sure competitors will be lining up for this one!
See you on the weekend!

Average.

Highlight for me was cruising under the brand spanking new 24m synergy from PL in 5-7 knots. It is officially my "new" favourite kite (replacing the 13mtr G2)

Most people got a good session in on the estuary on Sat. night, which was followed by many antics, including guitar hero sessions that lasted the entire night.

Unfortunately, the tides and wind weren't working out for us on Sunday.

But, it's always good to just hang out on the beach with a bunch of kiting addicts, sharing stories of that 25knot NEer that got away....

Re: KITESPORTS CHALLENGE 8-9TH march 2008 4 years, 2 months ago #16441

Yeah, less than ideal conditions this year....
Saturday was a light NE during the afternoon that kicked up to 10-11 knots at South Brighton Beach mid to late afternoon as we were losing the low tide, still a bit of kiting fun to be had landboarding & buggying, & a couple of people in the water.
The Estuary session late pm was a good blowout for those wanting some power on the water.
'Underground' sponsored an Epic BBQ at Cookies pad in the evening, this turned into the 'Master YODA' party scene with tunes from 'Sing Star' & 'Guitar Hero' in separate zones, pumping out backbeats till 5am!
Sunday was hot & a Westerly wind kicked in, a few keen kiters boosting on landboards, a 30knot SW prevailed so we bailed for the Domain, tide was low so John Thyne instigated a clean up of obstructions in our lesser known kite spot. When tide started to rise only Nico got out before the wind faultered....
At the evenings prize giving Anthony & Craig Hopkins let us all know how the wind went SE & they had 20 knots on our beloved pooie just before meeting us at the Sandbar....good on ya!

We had some great support from the local players , I'd like to thank Peter Lynn Kites, Underground, DAKINE, Stance Magazine, Groundswell, & KITESPORTS, plus all the keen kiters who participated, from as far as Nelson down to Dunedin... I think everyone came away with a good feeling of what the kiting scene here in Christchurch is all about... or at least a good hangover!

The giant called. He wants his 24m2 sleeping back back!

Cheers to whoever let me have a splat of their 8m Viper. Was fun to get hands on some power again.

Got a couple saturday. Seems I should have stuck around to the late hrs and come back on Sunday when I thought it would be equally as dead :/

Of course I was shooting the buggy! sheesh.
