The 4th Waikuku Kite Camp, sponsored by Landboarding NZ Ltd, is planned for Friday 14th to Sunday 16th December 2007.

Waikuku is a beautiful seaside village, 30km north of Christchurch on State Highway 1, and is well worth the trip for the stunning beach and surrounding lagoon, marshes and mountain views. (http://www.smaps.co.nz/nz/waimakariri/waikuku/)With an onshore wind we will have 12kms of uninterrupted smooth hard sand to use and a 6 hour window from before and after low tide.

This is your opportunity to come along to one of New Zealand's premier land based kiting events and meet up with other keen Landboarders and Buggiers, plus fly a selection of Ozone & Flexifoil demo gear. We also hope to have our resident wind expert from Howisit.co.nz with us this year with his portable windstation.

The tides for Saturday & Sunday are perfect for mid afternoon riding, (see below) and also for those of you that can make it on Friday afternoon too. As is the tradition, Landbaording NZ Ltd will be providing a BBQ & a few beers fro those that stick around, and there will also be the usual opportunity for some night flying, campfires, fire poi, midnight frisbee and the usual foolishness associated with these events.

Tides
Friday 14th December 14:46 (Ride time from: 11:46am to: 17:46pm)
Saturday 15th December 15:31 (Ride time from: 12:31pm to: 18:31pm)
Sunday 16th December 16:17 (Ride time from: 1:17pm to: 19:17pm)

As we will be bringing some beer and providing a BBQ for an evening meal, all you will need to bring is your kite gear, bedding and any extra food and drink you require.....

We will be initially pre-booking 2 cabins with 9 places available on a first-come-first-served basis, (we may book another 5 bunk cabin if the interest is there). The cost for a bed in the cabins will be $12.00 per person per night, ($24 for both nights), and the first 9 people to contact me by email/PM and commit the money will get the spaces.

Alternatively, there are non-powered pitches for those that come by camper van, and for the really brave you can get a tent spot for around $9 per night if money is tight.

Although this is advertised as a land based kiting event, everyone is welcome, boarders, buggiers, surfies, watchers, and anyone thinking of getting into kiting.

Show your support for the NZ land kiting scene and come along....

Confirmed Cabin Spots
-All Cabin spots are now taken - Send me a PM if you are after a bed for the night as I may be able to arrange another cabin

hi there, just droping by to say we'll be there on the weekend. just me and kate tho, unfortunately my freinds have pussyed out on me (this happens quite alot with these extreme sports doesn't it). well amped for the kiting, and beach shananigans. was hopping to get a load of fireworks for nighttime fun, but bloody helen clarke won't let me. grrrr! also thought i'd do a bumper load of the mountain dew glow liquid and drench my kite with it for night time flying, turns out its a youtube hoax. grrrrr!
this is what i mean if you haven't seen it.
but we'll bring up a few toy's, hopefully i'm building a fire staff this week, will bring that, and the new frisbee is even better than the last.
have got my works xmas doo on the friday night so won't be up till miday saturday. see you all there.

Keep everything crossed for some wind and no rain, and the Kite Camp will be the awesome event that it usually is...

Great to see anyone that makes the effort, especially Doofus all the way from the deep deep south.... Looking forward to the Saturday evening events...

I'll do what I can to make sure we don't drink Waikuku dry on Friday night...., but no promises... Get Pooh Bear to bring his capuccino wand...!!

Well the weather is looking up.... The sun is coming out here in CHCH and a good NE'er is starting up.

The Outlook for tomorrow is positive too, with a solid Northeaster forecast...

Looks like it's gonna be a good 'un...!!

A big thank you to everyone that showed up over this weekend, I think I can safely say that a good time was had by all even if the wind was less than perfect.

It was great to see so many new faces with an interest in the Land Kiting scene, and always great to catch up some old friends too. Thanks also to the Peter Lynn boys, (maybe next time for the Kitecat), and to those that travelled up from way down south, your support was appreciated.

I hope to see some of you out at North Brighton over the coming summer months...

Cheers
