The Bream Bay/Baileys Beach Buggy Bash is on for the weekend of the 31st March and 1st of April. We will be staying either at the DOC campsite off SH1 in Bream Bay/Ruakaka or at the Baileys Beach Camp ground.

Final location will be called no later than 8pm on Wednesday the 28th, based on weather reports - we will be looking for onshore winds - check
www.kiteforum.co.nz for the final call.

Low tides for each location are approx:

Bream Bay, Saturday 12pm, Sunday 1pm
Baileys Beach, Saturday 3pm, Sunday 4pm

Although the event is designed for buggies and land boarders, all kitesports
are welcome.

Any questions please call us on 021 654 149.

Cheers,

Dave Kay

its only a 2 day drive,

youth of today, so lazy

took me 3 days to drive there, yes it is looong way
harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....

Re: Bream Bay/Baileys Beach Buggy Bash 5 years, 2 months ago #13566

yep cheaper to fly,

but.

i wanted to take all my gear, like to drive and had never really been to the north island or on the ferry and i would have had to hire a van or something once there

it was a good adventure but i wouldn't drive there and back again in such a hurry.

So crew - here is the plan!

The weather for Saturday is looking like light NE in Ruakaka, and Sunday is swinging to the SW.

What I've called is Bream Bay for Saturday, meeting at the DOC camp at 9.30~10am, riding all thru the day and camping at the DOC campsite that night.

Sunday we will cut a track to Baileys Beach and make the most of the SW and afternoon low tide.

Any questions please feel free to call me on 021 654 149.

See you Saturday!

Cheers,

DK

We had a ~10k NW of Saturday afternoon which was fun at Baileys Beach.

Sunday was calm, but we did a recon mission to the end of the North Head of the Kaipara harbour. This area is amasing, even better set up than the south head for buggies.

We will look at planning a trip out to the north head again in a couple of months...
