ahh.
i just bought a petelyn peel 3.6 to learn to kiteboard on.
now i have never kited before (apart from those triangle kites when i was a kid).
this thing is a two line job with no brakes.
heres my questions

is there a manner in which i can place the kite on the ground with out weighing it down with something so it doesnt self inflat and take off on me while i'm walking back up to get the bar/handles?

when i crash the thing into the ground its always upside down. is there a technique i can use to flip the kite over without haveing to walk back down to the kite and do it manually? ie launch it from upsidedown?

thats it for the mo

When you first set the kite on the ground put heaps of sand only on the trailing edge (back edge) this will stop the kite from launching until you are ready.
As for launching from upside down on a two line kite im not sure if it is possible to do all i can think is pull on one side heaps and hope it turns over. This is much easier on four lines but i might leave it to someone else and they might be able to help you.

Nope... You are right Zenon... 2 liner kites are very difficult to relaunch once they have come down on their leading edge. If the wind is blowing quite hard it becomes a little easier to pull on one line and flip it over. Watch out when doing this, as the kite may take off very fast into the power zone.

You can "rock" the kite back and forward, by putting tension on the right and then left side. If you keep building up your arm movements, then it should rock a little bit more, and eventually end the right way up. Make the last tug a BIG one.

Easier to do in stronger winds. Takes practice, but it can be done!!! 8)

what sort of wind speed should taking this kite out in?
to practice whilst standing
and then to get moving on the board.

I would advise to start in about 6-8knts to get flying then once you get used to that go to 10-12knts to get boarding and then anything above that is fine

Under 10 for learning about the kite, over 10 for generating traction on the board.

The 3.6 will have an upper limit of about 20 knots. Anything above that gets real scary, real quick.

EDIT: Don't go out in above 25 until you REALLY know the kite. You'll be able to hold it down ok... BUT, if you move it too much, then you could end up being dragged/lofted etc...

hey boys'

all good advise' BUT dont forget the best way to advise someone new is to point them in the direction of lessons as this will make the learning process quicker.

and as this is the safe way it will be the best way.

anyway plummet all these guys are ex riders and there advise is all good.

Ex riders??? were not ex riders WERE current riders. The only draw back of lessons is often the price and wether or not there are any actual kite shops around. The other alternative is to get out where you see other kiters theyll nearly always be happy to teach you a thing or two.
