Sorry to be a nuisense but i have come up with a nicer design in my opinion.

I think it has a little more colour without being crazy stricking like number three (which i actually like over the other two)

Re: 3m Junkie Colour Scheme 5 years, 9 months ago #10450

if you have to use red instead of white number 2 looks more in proportion than 4

Re: 3m Junkie Colour Scheme 5 years, 9 months ago #10451

and how is it you get 5 votes and i only get 4? not that i care :? its already half cut out

how long does it take do make one of those? can any old sewing machine be used?

Re: 3m Junkie Colour Scheme 5 years, 8 months ago #10641

as long as the sewing machine makes long clean stiches its all good, takes about 4-8hours to print and cut the templates, 3-6 hours to cut the material and quite a while to sew it... + 2-4hours bridaling

works best in teams (1 person cutting as 1 sews) me and blizz got a 5m made in 24hours work(over 2days)

sweet, what do they fly like much lift? can you compare them to any commercial type kites out there?

Re: 3m Junkie Colour Scheme 5 years, 8 months ago #10646

my 5m is a killer kite lifts cleanly and turns quickly... its probibly more of a race kite but its similar to something between a PL Rebble and a flexifool Blade

we use the good stuff(spectra at $12 a meter) and print the plans with programs such as foilmaker and surfplan (u get the kite plans of the web)

its a hard process but certainly rewarding

o and norwester i don't mak'e tipos 8)

Chikara, not spectra. Spectra is the bridle line. You need 3.5-4x the square area (in material) for a foil, plus a few hours sewing experience. I've been making them for 3+ years now. Hate to think how many hours I've spent at the machine.

Hot knife is advised ($350 a pop). Plus nylon bonded thread ($50 for two spools). Also spectra ($100+ for 2-3 kites) is needed for the bridle line.

All adds up, roughly the same price as buying commercial kites (to get set up initially) But the savings in the long run are worth it. After about the 5th-6th kite it starts to be economical.

First kite can take you anywhere from 70 hours up to 150 (I've heard of 200+ being spent on the initial kite)

We take about 30-40 hours. Quickest I've done was like 15 or so. But that was a NASA Wing. Reckon I could do a small foil in less than 20 (including cutting)

Oh, symptom you did make a typo, it's actually spelt flexigay
