Hello all,

I've come across this forum while doing research for a travel guide on New Zealand sports and outdoor activities. It will be published by MANA-Verlag, a small German publishing company which is specialized on literature about New Zealand and the oceanic area. I'd still need more detailed informations about New Zealand Kite Landboarding, Kite Buggying, and Snowkiting possibilities, locations, providers etcetera. Therefore, any hints about spots, schools, rental companies, or websites would be much appreciated.

nz is epic for landboarding, buggying, snowkiting, kitesurfing.

The list is extensive for epic locations.

North island

90 mile beach 88km long highest sand dunes- northlanad
baylys beach 120km long largest sand dunes - northland
muriwai beach 50km long and home to the famour moose meet each year - auckland west coast
infact auckland as beaches facing in all wind directions. if there's wind you cab find a beach.

raglan river inlet beach light wind kitesurfing hard short beach home of the ozone designers.

taranaki. best place in nz for kitesurfing waves... infact the best waves in the southern hemisphere. some beaches for landboarding but not world class,

Bay of blendy, mt maunganui - east coast. hard long beaches awesome land and water based kiting.

Ruahepu, Center of north island. north islands snow kiting spot. Contact Chris Gebbie. Kite a live volcano!!! youcan kite to the hot steaming creater lake.

Foxton, himatangi, waikanai. windy long hard beaches. dunes and more. contact Butch.

Wellington. hard core kite surfing.

South island

nelson - tahunanui beach, Rabbit island


and tons more south..... im sure more guys will fill in more. there truely is many world class location.

For providers, as in gear to rent/buy and lessons, best bet is to look up shops in the areas, as they'll have connections (you'd hope) with local schools etc.

There's not much in the way of landboard/buggy lessons and gear available in Christchurch, but a really nice spot to learn in the estuary with a kite surf school there, and the beach goes for miles in both directions from the pier, with nice hard flat stuff at low tide.

For general NZ kiting info, this is the website to start, you'll find plenty of others offering help in their local area.



On the subject, what would you need to be able to rent out kite and buggy gear?

Like, small up to 4m kites and buggies?

I wonder what the insurance costs would be, and how much people would pay for lessons/renting

It should be probably equipment for beginners. (If people have got the money for a flight to the other side of the world, the're also able to pay any kind of kiting course, I guess.)

sorry mit dem Buggy Foto kann ich Dir leider nicht weiterhelfen....haben natuerlich jede Menge Kitesurffotos. Wenn Du daran Interesse hast, sag einfach Bescheid und ich emaile Dir diese gerne.

Check out www.windandsea.co.nz we are a mobile kiteboarding/Landboarding and buggying school in Tauranga/Mount Maunganui. We will travel to most places around NZ to bring the lessons to the clients insted of clients traveling to the kite school.
