I am looking at opening a kiteboarding centre to both teach from and provide for local riders.

I like the Nelson area, and will look into the possibility of setting up there.

I am after views from the local riders. What would you like to see (if anything!!) and also what do you not want.

Is there anything that a dedicated centre could bring that would enhance the riding in Nelson?

Warren and Weibke already run a great operation in the summer in Nelson. www.kitescool.co.nz It is a small population and I think not near enough for two shops.

On a good day Tahuna beach can have over 30 local riders cutting up the beach. So it's getting a little crowded. It seems to be the destination for all backpackers and campervans too, they seem to park up for about month.

British guy moving out to New Zealand next year. I have family in the Nelson area so wanted to set up base there. I have been and kited in Nelson a few times and so far has been the best location I have found on the South Island

I will bw out soon to talk to the local riders and local businesses that already operate there to see if my plans are possible.

I think a bar at the beach would be a good idea.

Yeah ....I though a floating one in the channel would be nice....give all the euro tourists a place to stop and grab a drink as they get swept out to sea to be rescued......

it's so tempting to just nip in there though, especially with all that pissy 10mph wind you get up there!
