What range are you comfortably getting out of the 16.5?

Ive got about 10kg on you and the nine only gets out of the bag when its consistently over 20.

You can ride your nine down to 15 with a big enough plank, get up wind well and generate plenty of speed, but dont expect to get any height till it hits at least 18 and then it really comes into its own.

On the other hand, the 12 has replaced my 18 & 13.

Like I said, the 9 comes out once its over 20 and I'm 10kg up on you. Its just more fun being on the right sized kite.

Having said that, been and seen the 12 out in over 25 with no hang ups.

From what you have said the 12 would just about replace your 16 and go a little further.

buy the 12m give you a better overlap sould have you going in around 12kts you will find that you wont want to fly the old C kites any more i have three C had to pull out my 8m nemi once in the last 6 months. i ride a 12m waroo 138 board weigh about 75kg. you can still ride the 12 when others are on 9m C's. wouldn't push it to far past the recomended 28kts with your weight.

hey joel, mark here,
i was out on my 9m waroo ( yellow/grey ) on sunday,
managed to get the surfboard out for a run after you left,
anyhow as you ride a 9m and 12m , do you think i would be better with a 14m for low end ,as i'm trying to plan my next move, and it seems to be either howling or light lately.i used to ride that 12m turbo diesel which was quite good in the light , i'm also looking to get a float style board,
and i weigh 75kg's
cheers

Nice looking 9m.

Havent ridden the 14 yet but the guys that are, seem to be really enjoying them and still out when I am getting fully loaded on the 12. So the top end doesnt seem to be an issue.

As long as Im on the Float 135x45 in the lite stuff then Im easily keeping up with them. Really enjoying the width of this thing. Jump on it next time and try it for yourself.

Either way is good (big kite or wide board), or try both if you can. Depends on what suits your needs.

PS. I'm about the same weight.

Must admit I'll probably be going to a 13/14 when the 12 is ready to be put out to pasture.

Hi there,

just arrived in NZ for a couple months' stay and brought a 16 Waroo with me. Initially, I will be riding a Rhino5 12m (my girlfriend's) in stronger winds, but am toying with the idea of getting a 12m or 9m to complete my quiver.

Not sure whether to go for a 9 (more top end, less overlap) or a 12m. I weigh 90kg and ride a 130, am a fairly long time kiteboarder.

Thanks in advance for the advice,

Jever
