Like many other "wiki" concepts, this one is amazing. Using google earth it lets anyone add in any information they care about. Because it is open source people can keep "bettering" the information until it is really reliable (just check out wikipedia).

On the top right click on the drop down menu Wikimapia and select Search Places. Type in kitesurfing. You will see a number of places I have added. You can add to the existing info or add your own spots. If lots of people did this we could just refer anyone to this site.

It would also help if we agreed on a format for each spot eg wind direction, difficulty, cautions etc. Also i'm not sure if my tag "NZ kitesurfing is appropriate. Maybe "NZKitesurfing" one word and then a second tag for the region eg "WellingtonKitesurfing"

I love it!!! You've dominated the submissions so far. All with beaches from one kickass and extremely windy city. good on ya dude!! PS I'm coming down to Wellie again next year. i bloody love it down there and hopefully we can meet up this time. Lake Ferry looks freakin unreal!!! I MUST kite there!!!!!

Just zoom into a region and the more beaches you will see!

And if you want your beach to be listed, then simply add a beach with all info you have and pictures.

You can even get listed as local rider on a beach info, so people can contact you if they have some questions about it (tell them the local rules!) by registering on www.kitecommunity.com and add that beach in your profile.

What i like about the wipi site is that it's fully pimping the most underrated kite city in NZ.

makes me wanna pimp my little haunts on there but they just ain't in the same league as lake ferry which i'm sure would have been crankin yesterday.

I'm on all your websites Toby but there never seems to be many people on the chat site. Every time i go there to rark it up the room is empty.

But i agree Toby is da man with kitecommunities.com where you can access kiteforum.tv and kiteforum.com.

just give it some time...I will have a big change on all sites soon, making it more accessable. You will see, one day even the chats will be full. But it is a long way to go.

I'm surprised that you have all that time to run all those sites. Bearing in mind that you spend lots of your time in arguably the best kiteboarding area in the world (NE Brazil) and hence spend lots of time on the water too.

It ain't too shabby here in NZ. Allways seems to be wind about but other factors can be an issue at times.

I'm now feeling better after another episode with my head down the toilet calling ralph. Still don't know what caused it.

it takes a lot of time for sure.

But it is fun and I have a vision. So this keeps me going.

There is not much wind in Brazil at the moment, but teh season is about to start. But then I will go back to Germany, and there I work much more, faster connection and 1.5 to the kitebeaches...so I rather stay at home and work and concentrate my kiting abroad.

Just stay tuned, more to come (and more work to do )

I haven't been out much either. I've been pretty sick with food poisoning. There has been pretty good wind at the mo over here. It's meant to blow hard today but from the SE which means a 1.5hr trip up north to get a crossonshore beach or west to a nice spot called cornwallis.

A front is due at anytime and it's meant to be "cold" today. Although a cold day in Auckland stills gets over 10 degrees C so it's still warm really in a wettie.

Damn smpl that lake ferry spot will be rulin once again with these SE gales.

Keep having the visions Toby... your sites rule. Don't worry after a couple of years absence i'm quite keen on being the forum beast that i was in 02 and 03.

Yeah mate apart from the downtime that i've had lately due to sickness i'm allmost allways out.

Gotta admit in the midst of all this football mania at the mo i think it's about time we brought a round ball (... a ROUND ball!!) to the beaches and played some kite football.. football meaning soccer of course.

PS: As you seem to be half and half in Germany and Brazil... who are you going for to win the world cup?

tough one...also being one quarter swedish....and GErmany is playing Sweden in the next round...

but more Brazil and Germany. I will only think about that once they will play the final...and that is still a long way...

As my Mum and Dad are poms I guess i should be supporting England but to be honest as long as Australia don't get it i'm happy.

I was hoping for Brazil to open a can of whoopass on them but that didn't quite happen.

The wind didn't really deliver in akl yesterday.. not that i really care cos i'm still sick and won't be back on the water till next week. I can hear it blowin out there at the mo however but it's 3 in the morning.

Oh well i had better go and do my first day of work in 4 days.

Blowin it's ass off at the mo. Bit too much for the 7m waroo so even if i wasn't sick.. i'd still be house paint if i went out. Infact the only guys that head out today are the one that ARE sick.

I don't really think going for a swim would be that hard though. The water temp is a good 8 degrees warmer than the air temp at the mo.

Air temp is 8 C. The lowest daytime temp in akl that i've seen for ages. But i'm from Wellington and have lived in New York for 3 years and yourself being from Germany... i'm sure you'd be out kiting in boardies in 8C :wink: . I was gonna say budgie smugglers but i don't know if you know what those are.

but anyway this "cold" weather is fresh and revigorating.

anyway I'm off to buy a another kite....

in Germany it even gets down to 2C...did it once, and air 2C as well...it was also snowing...but not anymore, I'm spoiled...if it is cold I rather work and keep pushing my things. And when it is nice and warm, I go out...basically no kiting from October to May in Germany for me...so I try to travel as much as possible.

Buying new gear is always sooo nice! Like christmas!

Sunny, windy day today too.

you didn't miss much today dude pine harbour sucked,
but it was nice and sunny and i got to fly the 9m waroo ,
even did hooked in kite loops in both directions(not on the board but)
i was there at about midday and the wind peaked at around 17knts,
but it dropped to nothing real quick,
new kit does rock though
