Thought I'd head out there this friday if the winds up but I've never been there before. Last time I tried I couldnt get past the gate at the Forestry road. Anyone know if there's access there these days? And any info on what tides you can kite on/other relevant info. I suspect I'll be on my own so I guess I dont want to discover a 10 knot rip or some submerged rocks.

Ive done a bit of 4wding on murawhai. you can get onto the beach at rimmers road half way down, and drive along the beach to the dunes etc...

umm, access through that way closes at sunset, but if you get stuck on the beach then you can drive all the way down to murawhai township and get off there cos thats open access all the time i believe. Make sure you got enough time to get back to murawhai if the tides coming in....otherwise you will be spending a couple of hours siting in the car waiting for the tide to go out...heh.

But im not sure if that will get you to the lagoon, im not sure where that is, but i haver gone another way to south head...umm, went past lots of dear farms....memory is hazey though, got right down onto the waters edge, didnt have to do ne beach driving.......that might be where you wanna go? ill ask a mate that came with me if he remembers.......
