TOPIC: Kite Boarder Hits a House!

Kite Boarder Hits a House! 5 years, 11 months ago #9367

Hi

Yup after a long period of nothing we have had a complaint about kites. Well not a complaint realy just a report of an incident and expression of concern. It appears some unfortunate lost control and ended up with their kite crashing into a house at Eastern Beach. No damage to the kiter and minimal to the house.

The person reporting the incident was very pleased with the attitude of the kiter (although not with having the house hit) and also that we as Harbourmasters office was able to contact the kiter within a couple of hours of them calling.

This is a credit to the kite users of the Eastern Beach area and was acknowledged by the complainant. The request from the residents at Eastern Beach is that you give them a little room on the beach when kiting. Thye have said that the kites can be intimidating when passing over your head and ask the boards to move "say 50 meters offshore". They undrestand that this can be difficult and are quick to point out that when the tide is low and the kites are further off the beach there is little issue.

Thanks to the users groups for supporting safe use and good PR with the locals.

regards

Full credit to the kiter here! S/He got into a bad situation and came out well, just having a good attitude saved the day!

Well done to whoever it was.

On behalf of all the local kiters in the bays and eastern area a big thanks to the individual involved who handled himself and the situation admirably.

Thanks also to Jim Dilley for his continued support.

Promise there is another kite meet evening in the pipe line and look forward to catching up with you all soon.

Cheers
Joel.
Local kiters for continued beach access.
