yeah mate bows are real dangerous. but that's the way we like it cos everyone keeps well away from ya

5th lining a waroo seems the way to go. 5th line is the safest ohshit there is.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5th line would work on any kite... even a turbo diesel.

Hoochie mumma do you wanna try my 12m waroo next time we kite?

what is the beast up 2? Putting a fifth line on my waroo perhaps? Are bows really that dangerous? not even.

you only stick the 5th line on when it's really rockin. for lightly powered stuff i wouldn't bother.. and as we all know fifth line sucks for light winds... that's when the kite inverts and bowties..

i haven't put it on yet but when i do i'll be able to take it on and off quite quickly.

Another option is to have a fifth line that goes up the centre that attches to nothing but the quick deflate valve. If you give it a hard tug then the kite will deflate... problem solved.

This line could attach to an ohshit by the depower strap. You tug on it when you are sensing trouble and the kite will deflate.

This is also potantially the most impressive means of surviving a lofting too as the kite slowly deflates having the effect of letting you down slowly.

The oh shit handle would be above the bar so it wouldn't interfere with the "no saftey leash twist" that we have all come to love on the bow kites and the swivel bar on the best C kites.

haha, that wud be crack up seeing a kite deflate in mid air, but wudnt probly deflate the kite when it crashes, ie, 5th line catching around seaweed in the water or on the beach when launching

that all sounds feasable,
have you heard much about the new 3 line bow from sof-x called the
ufo,
the single front line goes to a full le bridal and acts like a 5th line,
i don't think it has any pully's

i guess there is only one way to find out.

that would be funny seeing a kite deflate in mid air.... not as funny as being dragged across the road though

SLE kites have been around for ages by the way. I remember when i first started there was the seasmik kites and the flexifoil nexus. They were both SLE kites. Fast compared to a c shaped kite and way better depower.... but i guess all the hype back then was for these "new" c shaped kites like the AR5 and the Wipika freeair.

actually it's 12/7 philthy. Here's hoping those NE winds rock my 7 like they rocked it a week ago.

And as i have the honour of posting the first post of the exalted winter season... i say with my 3m wettie and my 7m wahoo... may the games begin!!

Winter rocks!!!

PS: i think we need some sheep in Auckland.... you could ride em to work... you'd still get there quicker by sheep then by car.
