:?: Does anyone know where i can buy(Auckland-Nth Shore) some straps to put on my surfboard? Has anyone put some on before for hints?Got an Underground FLX with straps that screw in to board but wouldn't know where to start with threads into surfboard!? There must be some Glue/Stick-on ones out there?

You'll need to router out holes for some plastic inserts/ umphrey plugs.
Better to put them in next to the stringer than cut into the stringer and lose its strength.

Better still, don't put straps on.... ride strapless, there is alot more surface area on a surfboard and riding in straps limits moving your feet around.

Also your standard polyester board will crease/ snap if you start riding it strapped.

Yeah it is a normal surfboard; an oldish pintail which ain't too thick either, so best to look at proper kite surfboard for strapped? Also,if i take it out as is;strapless, i'm guessing i don't want the ankle leash on? to stop the risk of it getting wedged into the back of my head?Have'nt been out with kite and surfboard combo yet.Bound to be doing a lot of board fetching so would be nice having it closer with leash? My first year kiteing and it's the great help and info from you guys that make my progression so much more enjoyable, faster and safer.O yeah, and less expensive.(Breaking surfboard? Ouch) Many thanx.

Yeah, there are some good kite specific surfboards out there now.

Any grommies polyester surfboard around 6' & under works sweet if ya want to save some $$$$ & you're prepared to put in the time to ride unstrapped.

No leash = no lacerations = less trips to A&E

Boards are always recoverable by effective use of body-dragging.

If you absolutely have to use a leash - say because your surfing big waves on rocky reef...
WEAR A HELMET & Use a short webbing leash (like a slingshot kiteleash) attached to the back of your harness.

Cheers for replys!
Awesome link to pictures with step by step instructions too!
Think i'll probably give a go strapless first then if get too
many tomatoes thrown at me,or start talking in super high voice, then might look at the strap option
(come from snowboarding/wakeboarding background so no
straps gonna be super gumby!)
Keep up the great efforts, woo hoo!can't wait...

into it so no drilling etc required
