ooops my bad it must have been Tom then. Anyway he also came out to PHP with us. PHP by the way is Pine Harbour Point which is technically Pine Harbour of course... but not on the beach. Did you guys end up heading out today? I noticed that the weather deteriorated once i left. Those pics i took came out well and i'll be uploading them to nzkiteboarding really soon. also took a few vid clips to add to my Eastside compilation DVD.

As for Kaipara Harbour. Never been there.. let alone kited it. I hear it's really good. A few of the oldschool Eastsiders went there in 2002.. (Tim, Alan, Susan etc) and they said it was really good.. flat water and steady winds from the west. I'm keen on heading out there next time i'm free and Ian and co are planning a mish over there.

Hooked up Bramley at low tide today. Not quite enough wind.. only peaking at 15 knots, lulling below 10kt but lots of flat water, everywhere.

Grant was also out too and we were both pulling freestyle moves in the light conditions.

The more differetn spots we can suss out the better. I'm also keen on hookin up a mission to Waiheke island... get a group together on a forecast strong SW and get there early and kite surfdale till the cows come home. i know Joel will be keen on kiting the island again and so am i.

Basically, all anyone cares about apparently is the colour of your kite, O Beast - how very shallow?

Realistically, Jk & I have whanau, etc. on the Rock so whatever you desire is achievable so just relax.

Depends how much north there is in the NE. The more north there is the more suitable Bramley is. Infact BOTH beaches suit northerlies better than Easterlies. It's just that Easterlies do not work AT ALL at Bramley.

So in short if the wind has enough north in it to get into Bramley (ie not fouled up by the hills on the right hand side) then Bramley has more wind... channel effect of estuary being the reason. This is especially true in thermal winds during summer.

I haven't checked the latest forecast (last time i checked it was turning NW on Sunday).

Also remember the tide is a factor. Light northelies and high tide suit Bramley TONNES better than EB. But the stronger winds (25+ knots) suit Eastern Beach better regardless of direction and tide.

Another option is riddel rd. The best place out east for light easterlies and high tide.

In other news... Wow check out thursday and Friday! We are gonna get hit by 2 lows. One this weekend and the other on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nah mate i stayed local. Craig said it wasn't very good up there when he was there.... didn't look very good by reading the windmeters either.... it said 15 knots (minus 3 due to meter overreading and you get 12kt... ie no better than what we had at Bramley.)

But as it's still an eastertly direction it's nto vet good down here. But when it goes north...... :twisted:

Your biggest issue is that your boards can't handle the grunt, not your kites.
