Was thinking of doing a low key "(ie enough room for us all to have a good session..) dvnt kiteboarding freeride, freestyle, waves and slider event 3-4 hours north of AK sometime soon (bit warmer!) -- got a small group of recruits so far...

Riding AT BEST SPOTS (all wind directions covered ) all weekend and any prizes will be awarded by judges that will try and take in all your riding over the weekend. And if no judges - so be it...just the same - riding, hanging out and having fun...

Confirmation of the event will be via text message on thurday evening - cos if it is crap wind it will be postponed to the next weekend...

You will need a 4*4 , be able to scam a ride with one, have the ability not to cry as everyone else crosses 4*4 terrain whoiel stuck in your 2*2, or just be a lunatic with an old ford laser you don't give a shit about.

The focus will be on 'busting out' freestyle sessions, and /or waves if they are going off. A good surf session also if it is looking good.

If you are up for it, can organise yourself, think it is funny when things go very wrong (except for other peoples safety), and won't blame me for anything.

Ian C is onto it. He knows exactly how things operate over here and that is how we organise our sesns here anyway so everyone knows how to do it. Bring a BBQ, meat, chips etc and have a big feed at the end. Get a camera along and just be silly asses. Everyone loves being a jackass when they are on the big screen.

And it's far more foolproof in regards to the wind too (the biggest downside to something long range like the nats in unpredictable NZ).

3 days out and the forecast is usually pretty accurate (close enough to pick a certain beach that's for sure) and if you do it during spring which is our most consistant time of year in the north in regards to wind you are onto a winner.

As for getting a plane up from chch. not a wise move if travelling to Auckland... you will need a car, best to drive up.

As for the cold... what cold? Northland's even warmer than Auckland. Aren't you a pom?

But yeah for sure this will kick ass. I'm lovin this idea.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just back from New Caledonia and scored some good wind and waves ( New Zealand just as good though) Anyone wants the secret to riding in New Caledonia without the big $$$ - I discovered it by camping on the beach and trying to catch fish with my mosquito net - not in Noumea though! You sure could progress fast in New Caledonia though - it is well suited to learning new stuff.. hmm I think we should all go in November and take over - don't go this time of year - we arrived with the first day of wind for 2 weeks!...

Freeride may be this weekend. Nothing for certain yet.

I said Northland - but if somewhere else looks better for waist deep flat water for miles with constant wind - and big peeling waves nearby - it will be there.

will keep you posted.

Leave equiped with tent, beer, food, large amounts of water if possible.

If it is going to rain all weekend and hard - might flag it - will see forecast soon.

It is just a get together so everone can bust tricks in each others faces at a good location with wind, have fun and it is just called the 'dvnt' freeride for pimping purposes of dvnt kiteboards and accessories. If someone wants to bring a friend who like filming more than kiting that would be cool too..

CU
Ian
