if they are anything like as expensive as the c kite bladders then expect to pay well over $100. My Yarga has had a blown bladder for over 3 months and me and Grant are still tracking down that bladder repair shop in Manukau. They used to be in Mt Eden right by the prison but they have moved to Manukau and we don't know the address of the place. The cost of getting the bladder repaired is about $50 i think.. ie tonnes cheaper than a new bladder which is gonna cost me over $200... hence the reason why i'm keen on finding this place.

The only other option i know of is maybe kiteworks.

Hoochie where is that place?? My bladder has minor wounds that would be easily fixable by a professional.

Oh crap i haven't taken them for the last 4 days

Quick ma hide the guns.

Hey bro you are in the same boat as me. $500 is insane. Here's hoping that me and Grant can find that repair shop so we can both get our kite bladders repaired.

I'm assuming that the kite is torn too and not just the bladder?

whatta about a warranty? Didn't you say the bridle snapped? That shouldn't have happended on it's first flight. That's not your fault and since that caused the other shit to happen then it's all to do with a faulty kite.

I'd be bloody peeved if that happended to me. $500 is insanely expensive for a repair. The kite must be virtually discintigrated?

fucken hell.

Oh no that's a sad kite story if I ever heard one.
Anyone ever noticed how its always more likely to happen on a new kite?
I know kiters who they like to get a hole in their new kite before they really trust it. Weird huh!

Anyway if Perrin the kite fix it guru says it's trashed, don't waste your money trying to fix it. Its probably got a blown leech line on the T/E and gone across too many struts for it to ever fly straight again.
And too expensive a risk too even try.

Would a kite leash have helped?
Sounds like your lucky no one got tangled in the lines then dragged with it.

Mr Thrasher.... if you need a BEST, Yarga L/E bladder their not as expensive as you think. I just checked and can get one for you at $100+gst not the 200+ you were thinking. If its a strut its much less.

McDee, I'm keen to hear of any bladder repair ideas for large tears.
As kites get older its harder to get the replacement parts so let us know what you work out. I heard the hair straightening Irons from the Warehouse make good cheap bladder welders.

Cheers Lee

$100 + GST = $112 and 50 cents. Sounds heaps more affordable.... although that 50 cents is pushing it

Hey Lee it's the leading edge bladder for my 17m Yarga

Also any mint as deals going on cheap 05 Yargas? Is that deal where you buy a 13 and get a 9 free still going or has it been snapped up?

I need the 13 to backup the waroo (at that rate i'm using that kite it's gonn have over 200 sessions on it by the end of the year) and a 9 for the crankin and gusty winter and spring SWers.

Anyway gotta fly. The Pine Harbour mascot is telling me to get my fat ass out to the beach. So 2 yo eastsidaz. PH at 1300.

c yaz thr.

PS: McDee i'm all keen on you having a go at fixing my munted bladder. Come out eastside or shall i head on over to Pt Chev and we'll meet at da beach? not today but some other time.

Hi Mark,
Let me know if you want that L/E bladder mate, I'll be ordering more gear this week so can get it here quick. And yeah, all those 9m Yargas have gone mate... the sale has been going nuts here and I got cleaned out well fast. + the young guns at the Nationals took a couple of Yargas off us on Prize night.
You should really get a 7m Waroo to go with your 12m. Nice for the unhooked stuff your doing too.

Blair, the BFK rocks. Check the PDF file on Anabatic for the prices.
21m and 16m available. The 16 would be the one for you mate.
Great to hear you've been out on your new kite and having fun.
Kite on!

Anyone want a used Shockwave 12m have one i need to sell.

And yes Lee i'm keen on getting one of those bladders. Can't wait to get the yarga up and running again.

Yep, shite will happen when you don't attach your lines properly!

Especially when you are doing those lame Beach Jumps of yours.
Guess thats why most of the locals have asked you not to.
Back to kite 101 for you buddy. Keep practicing those larks heads, maybe get your dad to check your knots first before you prance all over the beach.

Now empress us with your wisdom and say that you squared things away with the home owner whose house you crashed into and apologised to the car driver for dangling your lines across the road.

Enough said.

oh the travels down memory lane!! It was a cold morning in May of 2001. Back in the days when the 2 towers still stood. The beast from the east was just called Mark T and he was recovering from a bout of the lurrgy. Oh the precious new AR5 (well actually it was quite well used) had only one flight under it's belt in my hands... a delightful oyster massage in the epic little bucks in the steadiest of 0-10 knot flatulence. As i got out of the now rusted out Barina at eastern beach a special chilly Easterly greeted me and the tide was all the way in. It was only about 15-20 knots so in terms of 7.5m AR5.. sod all wind. No-one else was out and i used my legendary crusty handpump to pump this little swine up. then i laid out my lines delighted not to have to untangle c quad bridles anymore.

Of course i knew everything about setting up LEI kites and about this radicial new thing called a safety leash... which i attached to the end of the control bar! This majicial leash would save me from any harm done by the kite! Anyway in no particular order i put the lines onto the kite and with the leading edge still face down i gavce it a tug to get it flying. After dragging it along the grass for a while it finally launched.

Unfortunately the lines were tangled... i hadn't put them on right... "oh shit" i thought. Never mind i'll deploy the most ultimate in safety devices which was attached to my wrist. So i let the bar go and the saftey leash pulled on one side of the bar... the kite did delightful powerloop and i ended up on the road and the kite on a roof.

It was a delightful occasion. The old fella getting my details and the old lady inside peering out whilst the construction boys helped me get the kite off the roof.

In short we've all been there and done that probably includes you too JK. I also recall a delightful occasion where a certain hotshot out on da eastside got rid of the powerlines for us (eh Bluey).

Stop dissing the young guns.

was it that weak that it broke when u launched.

Apologies and respect to you for squaring things with the owner.

Good to see your back bone is in the right place, but can you now see why we ask everyone not to over do the beach dangle thing as it can easily lead to confrontations with other beach users and the rest of the local kiters?

Congrats on doing the right thing.

Philth: Shit happens. i'm sure you have crashed your kite and it has gone where it ain't wanted. And i certainly know JK has done this. I've certainly done it and i think anyone who kites for a long enough period of time is gonna stuff it up on occasions.

SPIG: JK has messed it up before. i remember him telling me about it

Oh by the way in case you guys have forgotten all that monkeycrap going on in the months before last summer was to do with us kiting in amoungst swimmers in conditions not worth kiting in anyway (grovelly 8 knots high tide EB).

I remember getting told off by Monkeylove for encouraging the grommets to kite in 35 knots SE at EB that day last November by heading out myself. apparantly i was not being a good enough role model... WTF??? When was i a role model to anyone?! We have two different situations here.. there was no swimmers in the water that day... that's the beef with the locals and the council.

As for getting kites doing crazy things cos something broke... that can happen on any kite... best thing to do is have your "oh shits" all working well so you can call on them when the shit hits the fan. This is especially true for bow kites like the wahoo or shockwave etc when bad things happen if bridles break.

And yes jumping on the beach is asking for trouble but the groms are not the only ones guilty of that offense!

As for being "rich pricks".. If he was that rich this thread would never have existed as he would have just bought another kite instead of enquiring about the cost of bladders

Far from being kooks these guys are going for it. I had the pleasure of kiting with Jarod and Blair at PH the other day. A gusty 25 knots, hitting 30 on occasions. Where were you Philth?

Spig has a valid point, as a landboarder i'm sure he's seen some interesting things happen when it all goes pearshaped on terrafirma. You should be glad they are around Philth.. after all they are buying all your old kites

Quite so, Mr Beast. We see you doing it regularly.
See... you "are" a role-model after all

its more at bramely at the mo and gone nne, might go if it gets a bit windier

Don't bother. i've been there, kited for about 2 hours.. ok lets rephrase that.. grovelled for 2 hours in what was an utter dissappointment. Oh well at least i know in my heart of hearts that i made the right decision by going to Bramley instead of eastern!!

However i did have a play with the wahoo and adjusting the setting on the rear bridle. for those who don't know... it works the same as the 2 pig tails system on c kites.. ie you can adjust the steering pressure. It comes stock setup with less steering pressure so the change i made gave it more steering pressure... handy i guess for the smaller sizes like that 7m i mite be getting!! Honestly though i mite make my own bridle lines and experiment when conditions are a bugs fart... could be fun.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

apologies from the erstwhile sleep-deprived (depraved?)
didn't get my facts strait

you wanna jump on the beach/grass/road? you go for it Blare

just don't expect us to pick up the pieces when you go "sailing" OVER your buddy's house  @ least your knots won't come untied

at least i have my accidents IN the water (not much of it i'll grant you)

Well i didn't see him beach jump at Pine Harbour the other day so it must be an Eastern Beach thing. Perhaps because it's allways light winds when we are there?? Everyone loves land jumping at eastern beach. common Philth admit it mate.. you've done it too

I could name names of more culprits if you wish but as we've all done it this could take a while so best we stop judging the young chargers and we should be doing our darnest to encourage more of them to take up kiting. not that they need much encouraging... there are now 10 of them ripping it up and EB is a much better place for it. There is quite an atmosphere there now which is wicked... and i also know that when it's crankin i'm not gonna be there by myself which makea welcome change from the old days when i had 25 knots to myself... it's great having others around and these guys are improving fast so allways fun to watch.

As for the role model.... ha ha i can guarantee that poeple on this forum look DOWN to me... not up. smart people take what i say with a large pile of salt. A lot of crazy shit goes on in my mind and to be honest the locals at Eastern Beach don't mind us jumping on the beach. So what happens when a launch goes bad next time... you suggesting that we all do drift launches in the water.... yep you go ahead and do that Phil... just let me know first cos i'll get the camera ready and film the carnage when you get line tangles in 35 knots

I'm totally aware of the unrelated aspect, I just worry when I see people take stoopid risks. I have good reason.
