The bikini is packed, I got more zinc in the bag than the Australian cricket team, look out Aotearoa Nationals, HERE I COME!!!

Now if anyone has any advice as to how to pack an aircraft hanger's worth of gear into a surf board bag..I'm all ears....

I'm soooo excited.

How's surf? Just as well your'e bringin your "Chinese water".
The WSW swell dies out on thursday , a new SW swell begins on sunday along with offshore SSE or SSW winds... Chuck the kiting gear out, bring a FISH surfboard for some small beach break waves.

This is the worst time year to schedule a kiting event in Raglan due to no seabreeze effect and the low pressures frequently coming from the north. This was pointed out to the organizers of this event back in July last year but they "Did not wish to enter a Discussion about it"

LET THE SLAGGING, BITCHING, WHINING, PONTIFICATING, SPECULATING, HISSY FITTING BEGIN! its nationals time again.

Perversley, it is perfect out there at this very moment, as i Bitch to you now.

For a kiting event in Raglan; Choose Nov/ December for the most consistantly windy months. Realistically you have to set aside TWO weekends so you can roll over to the next one if necessary.

Otherwise just do as Miller does and schedule a PARTY with kiteboarding as an incedental passtime!
Seems to always guarantee the wind.

Re: YAY for the Nationals!!!!!! 6 years, 1 month ago #8619

YEAH! LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED.

Starting tomorrow secret judges will be monitoring all aspects of participants characters as they roll into town.

We will be running a secret squirrel underground (not the boards) event with its own secret disciplines, judging panel, locations, prizes etc - all in tandem (but not officially, financially or spiritually) linked to the main event.

Be not decieved: You may think a national kiteboarding ranking is important now, but in seven years you will only remember the gold star for partying you won / lost at raglan in 2006.

Pause and consider.

Hippy would make a good squirrel if you shaved his head hair and attached it to his bum.

Re: YAY for the Nationals!!!!!! 6 years, 1 month ago #8622

i'd imagine you'd want to sedate him quite heavily before that but i'll leave that kinky stuff up to you guys.

This is the worst time year to schedule a kiting event in Raglan due to no seabreeze effect and the low pressures frequently coming from the north. This was pointed out to the organizers of this event back in July last year but they "Did not wish to enter a Discussion about it"

The organizer also talked to you back in October and you said that you thought it was a bad time. But then you checked out the statistics (records or whatever) and that it was actually not as bad as you thought, almost good!

We're volunteers, we're doing this event for the love of the sport, not for the love of money, or fame or pissing people off.
We sometimes have top make decision without using democraty. I'm too tired, busy, pregnant-grumpy-moody and stressed out to deal with people's little frustration.

I love kiteboarding, I like organizing the Nationals, I couldn't do it for an other time of the year for many personal and unpersonal reasons.
I will make this event successful, wind or not!

And if someone is not happy with the decision we made for this year's nationals: DIY!

ah - surf - er no - nothing much
ah skate - er wet concrete maybe

Well can't complain the kiting and surfing has been shit hot on the east coast recently

Conclusion PARTY and the stranger the forecast the better chance it is wrong and this sure is a strange one.. relocate to northland! (just teasing..)

Sorry Delphine I hope I havn't offended you....

I re-sprained my ankle last weekend, so the prospect of another couple of weeks off the water makes me more twisted than usual.

Christchurch looks to have the best forcast for a Nationals for this weekends weather !!!

Lets just hope it's like Ian says and this low pressure has some tricks to play on the forecasters.

A few things to say about the nats.

1) Firstly Delphine cannot be to blame for what the weather does but i do agree with skyrider. Upper NZ is best at the end of the year like Nov and Dec. Statistics are there to back it up if you doubt me. I'm sure Delphine has her reasons for it being in April/May and as she seems to allways organise stuff i'm sure it's best that we bow to her wishes.

2) Secondly if you want a guaranteed Nationals then move to OZ. Their weather is so much more predictable and conditions are tonnes better over there.

3) I will never enter a nationals unless it's in Auckland or Wellington. My reasoning for that is pretty straightforward. Wellington has the best wind in NZ and I live in Auckland so i don't have to drive far.. oh yes and i know the Wellington beaches (i'm missing the place allready).

4) As for Auckland. It takes about as long to drive to the northshore for me as it does for me to get to Wellington.. and now that it's $5 entry fee for the motorway it's now just as expensive too.

5) If it's in the far south i may also be a entrant... but of course not in 2008 (i'll be in WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA).

6) Please don't leave your gear at Eastern Beach again or i will be forced to come out of the woods and surface once again on this forum. and for the majority of people on here... that ain't a good thing.

Enjoy the nationals.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
