Hi all - am heading up to np this weekend to see the olds and was hoping to squeeze in a kite or two. am a bit of an amateur at the moment - so need a bit of advice as to where a good spot to go is. east end springs to mind, on a low/mid tide with the usual west wind (the parents live on the other side of the te henui stream so am nice and close :twisted: )

I'm going to Waitara for a few days a forecast swell building to 4-6ft tomorrow and hopefully 6-8ft sat/sunday, WNW-NW 20-30kts

Do you have a small kite?

If you're a newbie you'll be able to take advantage of the sheltered water inside the sandbar.... Just keep out of the way of wave-riders coming full-tilt downwind on the waves breaking on the bar, (In this situation the downwind rider can F@#%ing give way or just go and kite on a lake somewhere - where there aren't waves to ride)

I'd say fitzroy/eastend will be too big and onshore for the weather thats forecast for this weekend.
