My Son and myself Kite landboard and kitesurf.... in the UK.

Is there anyywhere we can hire kitesurfing kit near Thames where we are staying?

What wetsuit will we need? Shorty, full or our drysuits?

Thanks for your help,

Adam and Sam.

full length wetty for April to October.

Better to bring your own gear or buy it here, good 2nd hand stuff available , you'd probly resell favourably back in britain with your exchange rate.

Wind strengths vary from light to cranking here... Maybe bring a Bow 12m for the one kite choice?

Thames by the way, is pretty much land-locked so expect it to be gusty.

You can buy wetsuits in NZ. If you go to Warehouse you can get a shortie for about 15 quid or a full size 3mm Bodyglove wetsuit for about 50 pounds

If I was travelling around, I would head for Colac bay, Catlins,Dunedin,Christchurch, Taranaki, Aotea/Raglan and Northland.

Northland being the soft option for warmth and having the benefits of being a stones throw from either coast

The Thames/Coromandel coast where you're going to be basing yourself has a munty-big mountain range srewing with the wind on either coast. Others may disagree with this and say it has it's moments, but on the whole it is an inconsistant area for wind.
