Hi once again.

As promised several months ago I will post here each time we get a complaint about Kite Boarders.
We had our first complaint for this summer a couple of days ago. Takapuna Beach on thursday 2nd February. A kite boarder "crashed" the kite on the beach narrowly missing a group on the beach.

Great to see the guidlines supporting safe kiting and sensible use. hanks also for the great displays we get when were watching from the patrol boat. That goes to both the good and not so good surfers.
Thanks to the Eastern Kite guys for the positive good work.

A review of the Navigational Safety bylaws will take place this year. This will include public consultation so views from all parties are sought.

I think I was at Takapuna when this happened.
I had a good chat with the kite surfer after the incident occurred.
He is not from NZ and not familiar with the current situation.

In saying that, there was another family on the beach who were watching and very close to the incident. There comment was some people will complain if they get half the chance. I do agree with this...

We have not had any serious incidents at Takapuna that I know of.
I am more worried about one of the dogs biting my kids on the beach while watching my friends kite surf than worrying about them crashing into them. With the exception of Big Nose ...

It is important for us to know about any complains, so we are aware of what is being reported. I am sure you get more complaints about people ridding there jet skis or boats close to the beach than kite surfers?

Yep! some people do like to moan and yep we get lots of complaints about small speed boats and water skiers, also swimmers at the boat ramp. Kite complaints have been very low since last summer. One at St. Helier's about going to fast. We responded with the kiting guidlines, and that the guidlines were a practicle solution. And now this one at Takapuna.

Keep up the good work you are doing yourselves.
