One of our local riders ended up in hospital this week - due to:

SUN BLINDNESS

After a solid week of riding everyday, topped off with a 6 hour afternoon at the beach with no eye protection the UV finally got them.

A night in A&E is bad enough, add to that a week off the water BUT such eye damage is not good in the long term either.

Bottom line is - wear eye protection!

A quailty pair of sun glasses designed to be worn on the water is a small investment but well worth it.

After 8 days in Tara's & Raglan, avg. 5 hrs a day - I have the same problem... itchy bloodshot eyes , blurred vision - probl'y early stages of pterygia... cracked bleeding lips too.

I have the "water" sunnies, but sometimes not practical eg. 6-8ft, 8-10ft surf.... Not good situations to have droplet obscured vision.

Start to get an understanding of how uncomfortable it must be for those guys that sail across the oceans
