Just in case anyone is in any doubt. Yes the Raglan Freeride is still on.
Have copy and pasted details from the other thread below.

The forecast... well who the f@#$%# knows, predictions are changing every hour, however, bouy weather is still showing some sort of west direction at 12pm tommorrow and also shows stuff all wind from any direction elsewhere.

Wind or not the event is still on. This was and is always intended to be a fun event and as much about socialising as kiteboarding. It was started and still is in memory of our friend Doug Wisor because Doug and I had talked about running such an event many times.
It is a celebration of life because we can.
hope to see you there.

Anyways yes the Raglan freeride is on again.
The dates are 17th and 18th of December.
Tide is high at 10.30am on the Saturday so kiting kicks off from then.

Registration and socialisation will be on friday night probably at the Yot club.

Camping at the northern end of the campground plus I have reserved 3 cabins at this end. Contact me for bookings... these sleep 5 each and have kitchen facilities only. Prefferance is that these go to any south island travellers first.

BBQ sat night then party/DJ to be confirmed.

Basically this is all about having a fun get together weekend of NZ and O.S riders along the lines of the aussie Mambo comp.
no heats no stress no attitude

bordercross/course race sometime over the weekend

Great time to suss out one of the best kite/surf locations anywhere with the back up of numbers and support crew

more details to come....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
blackfsor.. is onto it! This is a Fun event so wind or no wind fun shall be had.
Having said that, despite Skyriders diar predictions(he just wants the place to himself) the wind according to me, and backed up by the latest high and low tech guru's, is going to swing to the wsw direction on friday and stay that way for the rest of the weekend. Saterday's looking like 10 to 20 knots wsw over the course of the day...crossfingers.

Signup is at the courtyard at the end of Volcom lane at Gag/blow me/Yot club on friday evening and again on saterday morning before 10 or any other time you can track someone down who looks slightly official.

Signup is important... it gets you a Tshirt, some other goodies, puts you in the draw for a free kite, feeds you with an all day do it yourself BBQ, and most importantly give you tempory membership to the Yot club. So if want to join in the fun... signup.

Gavin - Thank you for a great weekend - it is a thank-less and stressful job running a kite event - esp wind the weather isn't looking right.

Scott - well done on the decks on Saturday night.

Tony - thank you for hosting us in your town - Raglan is an awesome spot and is well on its way to gaining the same rep in the kiting scene as it is in the world surfing scene. Certainly a perfect choice for the 2006 Nationals.

Army - love your work - esp getting the party revved up.

Everyone else - great to see you all, awesome to ride with you on Sunday and hope to see you all again soon.

Cheers,

Dave Kay

Well it has taken me a while to get around to it but I had a look at the feedback and photo's- It was a wicked weekend that will get better and better I'm sure.
We may even get two days of westerlies god forbid.
Blackfeathershadowofrage-thanks for your help with choons, I needed a durrie and to abuse some fellow kiters (mainly Murrell). Bring your choons to the nationals and I wont surf till eight thirty next time so we'll go over the mixer etc so you are comfy with it.

Cheers

Kiteadict.. did you light a durry in your tent ? If it looks better and costs more than your tent.. I would keep it quite.

By the way I bought a thundercat.. so next time we will have two boats down at Raglan !! Trying to buy a few toys for it but the frigging EFTPOS is down for the whole of NZ...bummer.
