Are you ready to rumble...?

The Canterbury Kite Champs are on, being organised by members of the Canterbury Windsports Association (CWA). The format is the same as last year, with rider participation and judging over the weekend for the main trophy (Men & Women), plus lots of spot prizes.

Every one is welcome, but riders must be or become members of the CWA. Start time is 9:30am Saturday Dec 10 at the Estuary Windsurf Area, with a BBQ on Saturday nite, and prize giving from 6pm~9pm Sunday Dec 11 at the Bridge Bar Ferrymead Tavern.

Keep an eye on www.cwa.org.nz > Events for more details as they firm up.

John,
CWA Secretary.

We got the wind the riders needed to get results, and even made the TV3 news. All in all a successful weekend. Thanks to everyone who provided help, sponsorship, and prizes, and especially the riders. Below is a press release for the Christchurch Press - pictures to come on the cwa.org.nz/ckc.htm web site.

"The Canterbury Windsports Association held the fifth? annual Canterbury Kiteboard Championships at the Christchurch Estuary over the weekend. Light winds on Saturday meant competition was postponed to Sunday, when a brisk North Easterly developed with gusts up to 15 knots. The event started with a 2 hour rider judged 'expression session', followed by two four rider semi finals and a four rider final to decide the Open champion. There were 29 competitors, of which the youngest was eleven year old Anthony Hopkins.

And the winners are:

Open: Blair 'Cookie' Cook.
Women: Su Kay.
Junior: Martin Harris.

Best Trick: Hugh Pinfold.
Biggest Air: Tim Stockman.
Worst Wipeout: Matt Hadfield.

At the end of the day, everyone was a winner."

Regards,
John Thyne,
Secretary, CWA.

Pictures now available at cwa.org.nz/ckc.htm - thanks Neil.

Shaan - Cookie did expose himself briefly with a body drag across the launch site wearing nothing but a sleeping bag... there may be pictures still to come.

My work here is almost done.
